Modern Warfare2 General Thread

My "friends" that I've been playing with for 6 years online won't let me join their party because my #s started out so horrible. Even now that I've gotten over the "hump" they won't invite me unless they can't fill their room. Usually, an invite means they want to use me for target practice. It annoyed me so much I went to the (private BBS) the elite WAW players set up for MW2 and posted a bounty on their heads. (Imaginary $, it's all about honor and respect). I named each player and outlined his tactics as well as where they like to hang on various maps. None of these clowns know about this website-it's invite only and I never invited them or mentioned it so there is no way for them to know what I've done. Already, 5-6 of the really elite HC TDM players have agreed to spend some time hunting them. I asked them to tell my "friends" (if my bounty hunters win) to tell them its on my behalf.

I feel very evil. It feels good.

Just finished the single player campaign on regular difficulty. Considering how many times I had to repeat certain sequences on regular, I don't think my old bones are up to playing on hardened or veteran.

Anyhow while the action sequences were great, the plot was completely nonsensical. It's like they tried to make EVERY scene be a great big kick in the balls rather than having a few key scenes do that (like the nuke in COD4). It just got a little too ridiculous to take seriously, unlike COD4. Not sure I like this big dumb action movie direction.

The one thing I realized was that this generation really needs a water-based racing game after playing that fantastic raft level--those visuals were amazing. Not sure why non-traditional racing games like Hydro Thunder, Jet Moto and SSX have been completely abandoned, as those were some of my favorites...

Re: Blindness

Would you please refrain from throwing flash grenades into the tail section of the airplane on Terminal, I am trying to camp there and the repeated flashings have started to affect my vision, future flashings will lead to an M1014 to the face, Sincerly Sephiroth

I got my 47" HD TV and my hit percentage in WAW jumped 4%, my K/D jumped about 2%(a freakin miracle after all of the games I'd played) and I stopped losing close games. Don't forget to adjust the in-game brightness, too.

Well one would think with a 52 inch screen I would be able to see very well, but I really struggle with it. Perhaps I need to turn the brightness down and not up and maybe that would give me a better contrast.
I went back and played a little bit of COD4 and visibility was MUCH better. I get killed all the time in the new one in situations where it's pretty much impossible to see me. I get quite a few kills where I don't see the enemy either, sometimes you just have to put a few rounds into all the windows just to make sure. I think they made an effort to make players harder to see, to give them better camo, etc... As a fairly aggressive, non-camping soul, I don't appreciate the change.

I've given up on my beloved M16... after all that work to get it, too. I've been going silenced ACR on larger maps and red dot ACR with stopping power on smaller maps. Seems to be working pretty well. My bad rounds are now of the 7 kills and 11 deaths variety whereas my good ones are 35 kills and 10 deaths. Overall ratio is at 1.19 but climbing fairly rapidly. I'm open to other weapon suggestions, but I'll probably keep it in the assault rifle category. I wonder how the AK47 is in this game. Still really need an actual chart with real stats instead of the stupid in game bars that seem to have only the slightest relevance to reality.

I do think they screwed the multiplayer up a bit, after going back to COD4, the lack of Akimbo and knife 'tards was refreshing.... I hate that dual shotgun where you can get killed even if you're all the way off the side of the screen, makes no sense! And slight of hand on Akimbo P90s is pretty retarded too... yeah, you reload two P90s in under a second... whatever. The knife upgrades are also horrible. Why can you get stabbed to death if the guys arm doesn't even come close to reaching you? I miss COD1 style where melee would just use whatever weapon you have in hand, and it does maybe 50 percent damage per hit... how does a guy holding an SMG in each hand instantly pull his knife and stab you while taking rounds in his chest? Perks can be cool and all, but how about we make them make some sense physically.

Heartbeat sensors are lame too... there's already a full maphack anytime you shoot without a silencer, or a UAV is up, which is like 50% of the game... but then they have to add that piece of crap which needs a whole second perk to counter. Bah! Maybe I should just play hardcore.

And as long as I'm complaining, I'm not a fan of giving snipers and the like a fully automatic sidearm... semi auto pistols are the sweet spot for sidearms for balance, if you ask me.

Anyone have any advice on getting 3 stars on the Juggernaut missions? A friend and I are having a bitch of a time with.

Snatch and Grab is also kicking our asses.

The one with explosives and knives can be done with a "cheat" - you can search for it on youtube, but there's just a glitch you can use to trap the Juggernauts and then knife them to death.

For the final mission, just wait downstairs by the stairs and kill them as they come down. You can also go up one level and shoot them there. Remember to take the sniper rifles though! And use the claymores as "early warning systems" so you know when the Juggernauts are coming.

For Snatch and Grab, after you pick up the intel, snipe all the guys in the field that you can see from the plane. Wait for the Juggernaut to spawn from behind you, kill him, then run down to the right side and hide in the fuselage of the plane while taking out the guys that spawn down in the field. A juggernaut should spawn from the top of the next hill (unless you were lucky and you got him to spawn when you were still on the plane). At that point, you just run and gun to the finish-line because the Juggernaut that comes from the rear continually respawns.

Kind of vague, I know, but I hope that helps.

tips for the nuke
set your killstreak rewards to harrier, chopper gunner and nuke

go to an open map like quarry, and the harrier and chopper gunner SHOULD be enough for a 25 kill streak then BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

This may sound complainy, but does anyone else feel like shotguns are a bit broken? Specifically, the Model 1887. But you can't do any map without encountering someone who's running around slaughtering everyone with some kind of shotgun.

It's forced me to attach a shotgun to my FAL..."for close encounters".

Random complaint of the day. I was playing Domination (ground war) on Estate... I was pushing up to point C, which is in that 2 story building at the bottom of the map... it was infested with sniper types, and people spawning... Anyway, I burst through the door, and empty my clip into the two guys in the first room, and immediately start reloading... before I finish reloading, one of the two guys had respawned right outside the other door, rushes in and shoots me dead... Just absurd! It's not cool that they will spawn you right on a Domination point... and the fact that I couldn't reload before he respawned and killed me just adds insult to injury! Can't even go sidearm because I need to lug a Stinger with me everywhere I go. You can't trust your team to do anti-air, and if you don't have anti-air there's a very good chance of suffering a lopsided defeat... curse me for being a team player and not just deciding that I have my cold-blooded perk, and my team getting shredded by killstreak perks isn't my problem. *sigh*

Oh, and I was playing some yesterday, set the attack heli as one of my kill streaks... predator... pave low... and attack heli.... but when I got to 11 kills witih the help of my pave low it would not give me my attack heli. Eventually I went into my kill streaks, reset them to nothing, and then reclicked and it worked the next time... which was the very end of the round and I didn't even get to call in my attack heli.... Grrr...

Yoda-

You have to "Clear killstreaks" and reset them from scratch to get a new one working sometimes.

Try the FAL with Thermal for snow maps, Wasteland, Underpass and Afghan-if you can pull the trigger quick its a real killer.

I pretty much rock the ACR- ACOG/nube tube, stopping power, hardline and ninja. I set my killstreak to Predator, Precision Airstrike and Harriers. Nasty combo.

Those worked well, one to go.
The wetworks/breaching missions.
I kill every single guy on the map (68-70 of them) only to blow it on the last breach. Not sure what is happening since it happens so fast.
I breach, start killing the guys and then an explosion ends the game. I'm not sure if I'm not killing them quick enough or if I'm hitting the explosives.
Is one door easier to breach than the other?

I've seen shotguns akimbo. Now that's cheap. :p
Yeah it is... those damn Ranger Akimbo have killed me when only half my body is even on their screen! I'm nowhere near inside their very wide crosshairs... it sucks.

Yeah, I figured that out eventually, and it's bullshit :)

I don't do the ACOG type scopes... too much of a 'running forward' player that will aim down sight even at fairly close range. I can't pull the FAL trigger fast enough without completely taking my thumb off the right thumbstick... which obviously greatly limits your ability to aim. I got gunned down once by a guy with a FAL who was very obviously using a rapid fire controller/mod... very effective... but damned cheap!

I spam a lot of bullets, close range, long range, whatever, if I see a guy I'm emptying my clip in his general direction... as such I have no hope of using something like Bling... I NEED Scavenger... otherwise I'm out of ammo very quickly. I use the silencer as my one attachment, cold-blooded, scavenger, and ninja... keeps me off the radar.. forces the enemy players to actually see me to kill me instead of just having a dot pop up on their map or heartbeat sensor. I don't love the Precision Airstrike.. pretty much stuck waiting for a UAV if I want effective placement, and then it still misses everyone far too often for my tastes.

Running just under my pave low and shooting anyone who dares point a rocket upwards is too much fun. The predator usually is 2 kills, but sometimes I miss altogether... still, I usually have 6 or 7 kills before I even use my predator since I have to retreat to a safe range before pulling out the laptop. Once the pave low gets out there there is no chance it won't get you to the attack heli/ ac-130 level. The harrier is kind of cool, but I usually miss with the airstrike portion of it, and it doesn't take much effort to shoot it down. Very hilarious if they don't... but when the enemy calls in a harrier I shoot it down before it even decelerates completely into its initial hover... and I KNOW that drives the guy who called it in crazy :guffaw:

Edit: I missed the part about hardline... yeah, having the slightly lower streaks in there makes a lot of sense... and that noob tube is ridiculous on some of the maps where you can shoot it down any alley and be pretty much guaranteed of a kill.

If you're doing it solo, I find the door that's to the west to be slightly easier because the guys do not stand in front of the explosives.

You also should try to aim for headshots, or at least higher body shots, because if your bullet pierces the bad guy, you'll kill a hostage or set off the explosives.

I believe there are four guys. One guy will always rush you and try to stab you, no matter which door you choose. If you go from the west door, you shoot him first, then another guy with a gun, and you'll notice another guy tossing a gun to a partner... and you should be able to take them out.

Really, I think the final breach is the hardest thing to do in the game - because you have to restart the whole damn map if you screw up.

I'll give it a try tonight, I was thinking maybe I'll do a practice run on easy first.

Thanks.

It would be easier to practise in single player, because it checkpoints right before you breach.

Getting to the doors is fairly mechanical, because on veteran it just involves tricking the AI into running down the stairs. The only real problem is taking out the helicopter before it kills you.
