Watched up through Till the Blood Runs Clear. I forgot how great of episodes TTBRC and They've Got a Secret were. The first one was just plain fun, and the second one had some great revelations about D'argo, and Moya being pregnant. So great watching these episodes again, even though I admit it was a bit of a struggle getting through the first two discs. Some of the acting (Such as the female guest stars in Back and Back and Back to the future and Thank God it's Friday Again), are annoyingly bad. Furlow though, great character.

I actually really enjoyed "TGIF Again," and I loved how bizarre that white woman acted. It's really hard for me to watch most of Season 1 anymore, though.

Ugh, quite. What's odd is they both have the same really weird 'let's act distant and stoned, it makes us weird and alien' acting style, which makes one think that they were coached in that general direction. May sort of make sense in TGIF, but in "Back and Back" it's an extended... 'what the hell?'

I did like "Back and Back" though, it's a fun little look on time loops, casualty, and why it's better to intentionally smash the priceless ornament rather than accidentally break it. The screwiness of the approach to this sci-fi idea - and ramming it into a story about D'Argo being manipulated by an alien girl - is a very classic Farscape attitude, even this early on.

I don't really buy the characterizations throughout "DNA Mad Scientist". Zhaan especially isn't herself.

Zhaan has always had a very dark side, and these characters had just spent a long time in prison. I can see the drive to return home making them a little crazy.

Yup, I liked how they were portrayed in that episode. The crew of the Farscape are at first just a couple of ex-cons thrown together by circumstance, all of whom would rather return home - rather desperately.

I wouldn't be surprised how many real people, including myself, may react the same. We ain't heroes, and neither - at this point - are the 'Scapers. "The Flax" is also a good example of that
- sure, in the end D'Argo saves Crichton and Aeryn, but he seriously considers letting them die if it means getting his son and homeworld back. If they just had to lose an arm or two to get him that, you'd better believe he'd go hacking.
How's the video quality? My starbursts are falling apart, but I read on Digital Bits that the quality is actually worse on the new set..

I thought it looked pretty good. Better than the TNG season 1 set I am watching at the same time anyway.

Can't compare it to the Starburst set since I don't have it.

Just got mine today, haven't watched it so I can't comment on the quality. I did find it interesting that the version I have does not have the Peacekeeper Wars with it like some others have stated. Not that it matters to me, I have it anyway. I am shocked at how small this whole set is. I have the original 2-sided disk season and they take up a whole shelf of my dvd bookcase, this will make a big difference to the amount of room I have there. Which of course is just an excuse to buy more stuff. :)

I haven't noticed any picture quality problems, although I have no basis for comparison.

The Digital Bits says the differences are not dramatic, but since it also says that many of the special features were not carried over (and outside of Farscape Undressed, no new special features were provided), I doubt I'll be making the switch. The Starburst Sets will do me just fine. If only I could find the first four volumes in their single-sided form, rather than the lousy double-sided discs I have...

I've noticed a few glitchy issues and the occasional screen going black for a frame or two, but it seems to be very rare. This could also be because I've been watching many of the episodes on a friend's computer Blu-ray drive, which I've heard detects errors more easily than standard players.

I have the complete Starburst set, and so far they've held up nicely. The picture is beautiful and vivid.

I haven't noticed that on my Sarburst set, but on a few other DVDs. My player is an upconverting model, and when I step it down to 1080i, that drop out issue goes away. Not having a Blu-Ray drive in my computer, I don't know if such fine tuning is available or not.

Personally I think it looks pretty good. But I never had either the ADV or Starburst sets, so I can't compare.

The inclusion of the Peacekeeper Wars is a Best Buy exclusive, done no doubt to get the fans who bitched about it not being included to buy it from them.

I also already had the miniseries, and was planning to buy the series from Amazon, but Best Buy's online deal won me over (I saved 90 bucks), and now I have two copies.

    Anybody want my extra one?

I recently sold off my ADV series set to purchase this A&E release and thus far I've noticed no appreciable difference in quality. I'm using a Toshiba HD-DVD player to upscale to 1080p and the picture looks clean and crisp. In fact the space sequences seem to upscale better than those found in my Atlantis Season 5 discs. So far I've watched the first two discs of season 1 (hard to get through compared to the greatness that follows in seasons 2-4) and "Crichton Kicks" and these discs are solid!

I'm just glad to not have Farscape dominating an entire shelf and a half on my DVD rack. Those ADV releases took up a LOT of space.

I really love the fact that this set is so tight and compact. I left a lot of room for it, but I really didn't need to. Kinds wish the Star Trek sets came this way, or any TV series for that matter. Only thing annoying might be the "big" box that holds all the seasons compactly, but it's a minor issue.

Watched up through Through the Looking Glass last night. There are some very great episodes in the second half of Season 1, and I'm not talking about just the final four. Durka Returns is a nice intro for Chiana, and A Human Reaction might be one of the series finest episodes. Also, Through the Looking Glass as the "one mippippippi" bit which was funny. I'm actually surprised how much I'm liking Season 1, other than disc 2 for some reason.

My set came from Best Buy, which is the only reason I brought it up. I'm apparently not the only one to have gotten it from them and not gotten the PKW disks. No biggie, I already have the PKW.

Could be on only specially marked sets, did yours have a sticker that said it came with the mini-series? I think mine did.

No, no sticker, I've read elsewhere on the net that it was a hit or miss thing as they only had so many that had the PKW's in it.
