The Cribbins Speaks

That was fantastic! Bernard Cribbins for the win!

I would love to see the photo illustration he talked about getting of his two Doctor Who characters. I think it's awesome that they did that for him.

And of course GallifreyBase has ignited with debate over that "the Doctor's most faithful companion" comment, due to Dalek Caan's prophecy in Journey's End...

Plus the Crib's comment about "maybe I could regenerate" has renewed the speculation that Wilf might be a goner, though I suspect Crib was actually talking about himself, not Wilf.

Given that the whole point of End of Time is to kill of the Tenth Doctor and unveil the 11th, I can't see them distracting from this by killing Wilf off. The actor, and the character, is so beloved in the UK that doing so will steal all the thunder from the regeneration and likely turn people away from the show. I know RTD is known for making "out of left field" decisions, some of which have resulted in factions of Who fandom turning against him, but I just can't see RTD doing this to Wilf. Or Donna, Rose, K-9, Sarah Jane, Jo Grant, Ian Chesterton or any of the million other companions rumored to be in the finale. (I'm not spoiling there - just added a bunch of names, but the rumors are getting to be just about as bad). It was decidedly understated, and perhaps even a shaggy dog story to a degree, but the whole "faithful companion will die" aspect was covered off in Journey's End. An alternate interpretation is Caan was talking about a companion we haven't met yet. Check to see if there's a big bullseye taped to Amy's back next spring.

There's also the notion that the most faithful companion was in fact

the TARDIS.

^That's what I'm thinking, Starkers. There is only one, true faithful companion, and you named her... :techman:

Oh now wouldn't that be something?
The Doctor goes so far off the edge that the Tardis ends up locking him out.
