Wow, I had a surprisingly good workout today considering how consistently drunk I was all weekend.

Between my increasing intensity elliptical training and yesterday's leg day, I really can't walk too well today. You guys would all laugh hysterically. John Cleese eat your heart out.

Man, I blasted my shoulders yesterday harder than I ever have before. I can barely move my arms today.

Alright, checking in. I'm still struggling with some health issues, and awaiting doctor's appointments, but in the meantime I've not been as diligent in caring for myself as I ought to be, so I resolved to get back on track. I did my morning yoga for the first time in a couple of months (I can't believe it's been so long!). That was 6AM, it's midnight now and I'm starting to feel that downward dog in my shoulders. I also walked 5.6 miles home from Manhattan over the Williamsburg bridge. I researched the Rec Center I want to join and I'm going to go tomorrow after work. I want to start swimming and running again.
    My overall plan is:
    1. Return to my 15-30 minutes every morning of vinyassa yoga, possibly start going to 1hr classes weekly as I get fitter.
    2. Return to my old habit of walking over the bridge 5 days a week (about a 5 mile, hour and 15 minute walk.)
    3. Start a gym routine involving lap swimming, running on the treadmill, stationary cycle, and rowing machine, 1-2 hours a day, 3 days a week.

I used to be a health nut, I want that back!

^Getting back into it always really hard. It can be especially discouraging when you struggle at things that you used to be good at! If I ever have to take time off, my first week or two is always really annoying.

Myself, I'm trying to get my diet back in order. And by diet, I mean eating as much as humanly possible. Winter is approaching, and that means it's bulking season. I haven't really taken it seriously in a few years, but one of my clients is doing the same thing, and I am determined not to let him get bigger/stronger than me.

I hate gaining weight during the winter, but it's often inevitable and necessary. On the bright side, I've lost at least 10 - 12 lbs the past few months (mostly credited to change in diet). I hope I can keep this up, but it's hard during the holidays.

Can you guys recommend any good exercise for the love handles? Although I've lost some weight, I could use some tightening of the abs. The left side is quite firm, but my right feels tender and needs to tone up.

Side bends, ball or standing twists with a pole, reverse twists, side/oblique crunch, jacknifes(kind of like a side crunch but you raise the leg as well).

AS ALWAYS it doesn't matter how fit the muscle is underneath if you don't eat right you wont see them!

^^^ Thanks. Maybe I ought to start having those whey protein drinks (ugh, they don't sound very appetizing at all).

    Heh. Story of my life.

I did a killer hour of Vinyassa Flow yoga (this kind of yoga is serves as an intensive workout), and I guess I'm not as out of shape as I thought. I held out the whole hour and had only minor soreness overall -- I was certainly feeling that downward dog the next day, though.

I really want to try yoga. I'm good when it comes to weightlifting, but I need to try some new things.

^I love it! There are several types that range from relaxing and easy to intense. Vinyassa Flow really makes you sweat. I used to go to Yoga To The People, a pay by donation yoga class, and I may start going again when my schedule's less hectic. For now I download their podcasts, which are great.

Now that the VB season has ended, I have gotten a lot of my time back, which means I am going to start running and hopefully playing racquetball again starting this coming week. Got another ultramarathon to train for, and hopefully I don't get injured this time building up to it.

    Atta boy.

I've finally been training my legs really hard the last month or so. It's amazing how the rest of my body has improved as a result.
