Make Pike a bad guy...

The destruction of Vulcan and near-genocide of one of the founders of the Federation is a game-changer for the sequel -- Star Trek: Escalation.

GARY MITCHELL: "There's no going back. You've changed things... forever."

PIKE: "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

McCOY: "You crossed the line first, Jim. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."

KIRK: "Sometimes the truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded..."

He's the guy who, if you know Trek, brings a certain sense of foreboding with him when he appears: He Does Not End Well.
Are you kidding? Pike will spend his "golden years" in the body of a hot young stud, with a woman who can take on the appearance of any fantasy he can imagine.

Kirk dies by falling down a hole.

I'm sorry you felt that way. Actually I think that the two are pretty aware of what their respective audience expects, and write their scripts accordingly.

Owners of 'Buy Here, Pay Here' automobile lots know their customers. Doesn't mean they're dealing quality products.

You don't understand - they're deservedly successful through their own efforts and years of work, wealthy and clearly enjoying themselves. They are therefore destined to be scorned by fanboys on the Internet, who for the most part are 0 for 3.
Or could be it that I simply didn't enjoy the script? That I didn't feel that it worked? Add to the fact that the best line came from Paramount marketing cutting dialogue for a commercial.

I stand by my criticisms of Orci and Kurtzman.

Aaaahhh. Okay. I get it. :p

In any case, I stand by my opinion that they are good writers and produce stuff that millions of people enjoy. It's escapism, it's entertainment....it entertains me. That's all I'm asking.

Did you make that up? If not, where did you get it?

It's from the Bible...duh.

Mirror universe. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy get switched with their counterparts in the dark mirror universe. Mirror Pike plays a sort of Spock/Kirk combo. Kirk could still start the rebellion by talking sense into Pike. Even the line, "Captain Kirk. I will consider it." Could be used at the end.

Imagine Bruce Greenwood with a gotee!
