Ticks on cats. (Give me a straight answers)

If there's nothing that I can do about it....I will have no choice, but to put them in sleep.

Damn it!

What do you want me to do about it?! I can't afford to have my new place all over with ticks!

I thought you were leaving the board, and with comments like that, I really wish you had.

You are either putting on a fake personality and purposely trying to antagonise people with comments like those, or you really do think like that. Either way, you are a prick. A monumental prick.

I expect I'll be warned in due course.

My post still stands.

If your knee jerk reaction to annoyance over something your pet can't help is euthanasia, you probably don't need to have one to begin with.

I'd suggest calling a no kill shelter and letting them deal with the infestation-and finding the cats a new home.

I know, in my mind, if my pet was suffering from a infestation of fleas/ticks that last thing I'd be worried about would be moving and what would happen to my new apartment, I'd be hauling them to the vet and getting them treated. Killing them so they would mess up the new digs wouldn't even enter into my mind.

Amen. If one values an animal's life so little, then that person should not have pets and would be best to give them to someone who will care for them as they deserve, even when they're difficult.

I was going to suggest that you give your cats away to someone else if whatever the Vet suggests doesn't work. But now I'm going to suggest giving them away right now. I think you'd be better off not taking care of cats.

At the very least, how about keeping them inside and using a flea and tick collar to get rid of them. Then move to the new place.

It's just that I never deal with ticks before, but have been deal with fleas before. It's not that pretty. I'm trying to figure it out on how to get my outdoor cats to live longer without ticks. My indoor cat got few ticks on him before, but never got ticks ever since.

Right now I don't want anymore surprise.

So putting them to sleep is a option so you don't have to deal with anymore surprises? Total overreaction to a common problem with outside dwelling pets.

And, you of all people, you don't know me.

I suffered a great deal after I lost four cats with bad blood last year! Vets didn't see the reason to keep them alive and decided to put them to sleep without our permission! That is, I hope that I won't have to experience that ever again.

Yet, you said in this thread that you'd consider it, to keep ticks out of your new place. Why go there automatically, why not consider adoption?

I love those cats very much. To be honest, I think I got myself a maine coon cat here. How can I be that cruel when I decide to put them up for a adoption?

So you think it'd be more cruel to put them up for adoption?

Because he isn't for real. He always posts these types of threads about his "personal life". They follow the same pattern...

He makes a post that makes a small or insignificant issue out to be a big deal that's really affecting his life. Then people tell him he's being ridiculous and blowing it out of proportion. He then comes back with his trademark "you don't know me. You don't know how much I've suffered because of [insert random bullshit here]...". It's his M.O.

In a day or so, he'll post a goodbye thread and claim he's leaving because people here treat him badly.

It's pathetic.

Yeah. Those cats are so precious to me.

Be quiet, you!

Yeah. Those cats are so precious to me.

So precious that you'd kill them, rather than let them have a long and healthy life with another human?

Because he isn't for real.

I am starting to get a flicker on my 'troll-dar'.
Yeah, my spidey-sense is starting to tingle too

Make them indoor only cats.

That's my plans. I thought that killing ticks would be that easy, but turns out that it's very hard to kills those bastards. Having them being indoor cats is not going to solving the problem at all.

I think my cats should spend a night with vet until they take care of ticks. My indoor cat had few ticks before, most of them are gone now.

And I'll be sure to checking their ears as well.
