You don't know what a reset button is, do you?
 
It was pretty much the exact opposite of a reset button. They suffered consequences for everything they did, will suffer consequences for everything they do, and everyone will remember everything that happened.

"Reset button" doesn't mean "trying to start over." Especially when it's done the way they did it in Mad Men.

By that logic if you're out practicing, say, skeet shooting and miss your first target, you're "hitting the reset button" by trying again. :rolleyes:
 
It certainly made us, the audience, appreciate the dynamic created by the main cast. When Don exits the bedroom and sees everyone working together (minus Sal, plus Pryce) and realizes that every though he's lost two families he does have this "family."

I don't even think that's too hard a stretch- in cultures like Japan (as Cooper may know ;)) co-workers are basically considered family.

So it remains to be seen just how much Don will let those co-workers into his life. It is great to see Roger and Don together again. That's a great dynamic.

Duck is going to be pissed to be on the outside of this whole setup again.

Kurt & Smitty, Paul, the various office assistants. I don't mind if they are never seen again. I have a hunch Guy McKendrick might show up next year actually... the Brits were so convinced he wouldn't be able to work. Why not? Throw a wooden foot on and Bob's your uncle.
 
I'm so sick of that fembot Betty. I don't really care if she never returns to the program. The season finale allows Betty to conveniently go away; perhaps the producers should resist soap opera convention and let her go for good.
 
When Don calls Betty a whore. I've had enough of Betty and was so impressed that he realized he could do without her. And yes, I know Don's a whore too, but this was the 60s.

So what if it was the 60s? That excuses Don? He had one hell of a nerve putting his hands on her. He's the whore and the liar and that's why he's getting divorced. It finally sunk in; that's why he didn't fight. Being Dick Whitman and a serial adulterer, he had no cards to play. No, I don't think Betty will end up happy with Henry and yes, she's deluding herself, but she needed to get away from Don and he needed to finally lose. Maybe he'll gain some much needed empathy and not treat his family like shit anymore. I'm intrigued to see what kind of person Betty is in 1966. Don's behavior hits waaaaay too close to home for me with my own wayward ex.

As for the rest of the ep, I like the development of the new company and bringing Joan back into the fold. Her husband will probably be long deployed by 1966. Good riddance to him, but I hope she doesn't end up with Roger. Joan can do so much better. Loved that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, aka Don and Roger, acknowledged that Pete saw things coming that they never predicted. I don't know how I feel about Peggy coming on board. I had this fantasy of her flipping them the bird as she strolled out the door. :lol: Loved that Pryce is staying on. Very well, then, happy Christmas indeed. They did an excellent set up for next season. I'm very, very eager to see these dinosaurs exist in a 1966 where Vietnam has invaded their lives, and feminism is blooming.

Exactely. I'd like to see Sal return, and prosper too, because he got such a raw deal.

I loved seeing the British blowing a casket, they have been such cold bastards.

I kinda figured something happened to you personally to go after Don the way you do. Now it makes sense.

Darlin', you ain't no Betty. You're far more independant.( I mean that as a compliment too) Don will do ok, I think. He's the top of his field and has re-invented himself once, he can do it again. Betty's going to have trouble. She has no job experance, outside of modeling. Without a man to care for her, she'll never survive. Don maybe a whore & a lair but he's never been caught, she has. That's why she can't get a divorce on the State of NY and has to fly to Vegas for it. I have to agree with Don when he said she walks around with her little White nose stuck up in the air thinking she's perfect. She's far from it.

Don is treating Betty pretty badly with all his fucking around, but he's not a terrible family man imo. They live in a nice house in a nice neighbourhood, he works hard, brings home a very decent amount of money, and they have everything they could hope for. Plus, he's a lot more loving with the kids than Betty who only seems to care about the baby, but not the other children.

Yes, Don could have been a better husband, but how good a wife and mother was Betty?
 
I like Betty. I think she could've been a better person if she wasn't stuck with Don. I'm interested to see how she'll be without him.
 
I've never really liked Betty. She has always struck me as not-so-bright, immature, cold and distant, particularly to her kids. Very self centered, she really is the cliche trophy wife. And she seems to like to play at being grown up without actually being mature.

And note the women Don has been known to dally with. Most of them struck me as being somewhat smarter and more passionate than Betty.

Yeah, and Don seems to be most attracted to Betty when she isn't being herself (like in Paris).

So am I. It'll also be interesting to see if her life with Mr. Wonderful is as wonderful as she expects it to be.

Did I miss something or did Betty head off to Reno for six weeks and leave the older kids home with the housekeeper?

It looked that way to me. Of course, she's always been fine with the housekeeper doing all the parenting, so I doubt the kids will notice the difference.
