Have you had the Swine Flu?

From the beginning, the media has misunderstood the medical community's concern about this virus. It's not especially fatal; but it does behave in some unusual ways, *and* it jumped species, *and* it's extremely contagious. These three things do not make epidemiologists happy-happy.

Fantastic news. I got my vaccine a while back and the appropriate amount of time has gone by that it is now in effect. You won't have to worry aobut me dissapearing. Your welcome.

Indeed. :) I've not forgiven the newspapers for printing the story of the first confirmed case in the UK under the headline "KILLER IT IS!!!", only for the story to then say that the individual in question was perfectly fine and making a full recovery.

It actually concerns me. If the media and society can't handle an unusual flu that kills a few old people and children, how would they handle a pandemic that was a real emergency? If some plague were leveling every third person, I don't know how we'd manage, seeing as the media tried to whip up panic following a single case of non-fatal flu...

I am going to get vaccinated next week. I'm not all that worried about getting it, but as I have a history of respiratory problems I think I'll hedge my bets.

I've been told that the blood of a caribou will do the trick. Unfortunately there's an eight week waiting-list to see the soviet-trained livestock technician.

I had it back in the spring and was pretty miserable and wiped for about two weeks. Just to be safe though, I got the vaccination through my oncologist a couple of months ago.

Yeah, I had it about three months ago. My temp went up to about 104 for about four days, it was pretty bad. The worst though was the coughing, I felt like I was developing bronchitis or some other respiratory problem because of it, it was the worst cough ever. It felt like I needed to cough up phlegm but none ever came. The cough lasted about a month after the fever left.
