Only two scripts, but large chunks of the "Phase II" (then ST II) writers' bible morphed into TNG's Season One writers' bible. The Will Decker/Ilia romance became Will Riker/Troi.
Other sections came from the final chapter of David Gerrold's overhaul of "World of Star Trek", in which he speculated how to improve TOS and make it more believable, namely via away missions which kept the captain safe(r) aboard his ship, and away missions being commanded by a first officer or a security chief (Security Chief Chekov became Macha Hernandez, who became Tasha Yar).
Worf was a bit of an afterthought. He was hastily cast and added to "Encounter at Farpoint", but Michael Dorn's performance pleased the producers and they pumped up his role.

TNG was largely recycled from Phase II (with a couple of scripts explicitly so), but it also recycled from pretty much everything else that Roddenberry had done (Questor tapes, etc.) - largely, unfortunately, to ill.
I didn't know that, very interesting. Big change from the allegedly, constantly line-stealing Shatner of the original series.
And as for the Decker/Ilia vs Riker/Troi, you could take TMP and the first few eps of TNG and show them to someone who had never seen any Trek, but did have a basic understanding of character archetypes in literature/theatre, and they would notice the parallels.
As much as I love TMP, I still wonder what could have been with Phase II.
No! Same ol' Shatner. He was convinced (I think) that after 13 episodes, the big motion picture roles would be coming his way and he wanted to be able to accept them, and still be able to drop back into "Phase II" if it proved a hit, but without the long hours of a series regular.
Uniforms that cause you ask if the CO is happy, or is just on his way to the coin-op laundry...
I wasn't arguing that concepts weren't recycled from Phase II. I was clarifying that only two specific P:II story ideas (scripts), "The Child" and "Devil's Due", were made into episodes. The poster to whom I was replying to stated that many TNG stories were recycled from P:II, not concepts.
One could argue this to include backstory--as demonstrated previously in this thread and board ad nasuem about Riker and Troi, Decker and Ilia. But it was quite clear that the poster was writing more on the actual stories that were episodes.
