Just that things take an extremely dark turn next week. Relish the lighter tone while it's still here. 
Okay, that was cute but that was filler. I'm ready for the story to turn dark again next week. This was the first eppy of the season that disappointed me. Loved last week to death, but this isn't going to make my best list. It was....okay.
Bring on Mark Sheppard's Crowley, and hooray for Ellen and Jo in the preview for next week.

Now that I'm looking forward to.I liked this one more than the last few weeks' worth of episodes but it still was one of those run of the mill one-off supernatural plots of the week.
I have no objection to those standalone offerings in principle but there needs to an interesting angle, fresh idea or neat twist to elevate it from standard formulaic fare and unfortunately this episode didn't do that.
We had a ghost like we've seen quite a bit on this show over the years and ghostly kids to boot in less than impressive make-up. Check Burn and salt bones--check. Standard danger scene for Sam and Dean confronting the entities lacking any suspense or jeopardy. Check. A standard fight with the iron etc. Check. A last minute save. Check.
The framework around this episode of a Supernatural convention was really the only thing different and it was a nice idea but it was just there on the periphery and I was surprised they didn't do more than they did with it. I did get a kick out of the "Dean" fan mocking how Jensen always talking deep to sound tough--that has always been an irksome characteristic.
I did like the two SN fanboys and the brief scene about a brother dying for you was well done. I liked they brought back the super fangirl from the season premiere in a bit of continuity.
It wasn't awful just pretty pedestrian. And the episode highlighted the fact again that I simply don't like all the tongue-in-cheek meta-stuff that they have gotten into a habit of doing especially lately. It undermines the goodwill from its drama and makes it seem almost schrizophrenic--does it want to be a serious drama or a show that parodies itself and breaks the fourth wall.
This episode is a C and I still feel that this season still has been less than impressive overall and strangely enough its three weakest episodes have come in a critical ratings period. I also still stand by my opinion Eric Kripke should wrap up the show this season.

I thought while the actual supernatural element was rather "been there done that" that the convention thing was fun. I don't know anything about TWOP but I liked what was there with the injokes and all. I thought there were too many guys at that convention but the end reveal might explain that.
However, I sense unlike Dorian I'm actually being overly generous because my work finally got easier and I'm seeing the end of the tunnel on a long frustrating project.

Not counting the excellent Anti Christ episode, this is actually my favorite episode since The End. I liked it. A B.

I can't take this show seriously anymore.
It's not that I hate the show at all - I wouldn't have spent three months working on a parody video if I didn't love it. But this fan-related humor is turning the show into a parody of itself. I miss the show that took its premise seriously while still being able to poke fun of itself (and the conventions of horror) on occasion. This episode jumped the shark, fell into the water and drowned in a sea of excess.
I was laughing in spots but I was irritated at the same time. "The Monster at the End of This Book" was clever but that should have been the extent of the inside jokes. And while it may seem cute to acknowledge that there's an apocalypse going on, it only brings attention to the fact that it's being ignored in favor of meta-humor that only the hardcore fans will even get.

I love it, funny...one of the best shows on TV.

I liked this episode, but when you take it with episode 5, 7 and 8 it is way, way to much humor (especially for the setting they are in). And certainly way to much humor in such a short period of time.
Personally I would be happy if for the rest of the season their isn't a single episode that tone is light, where the humor isn't poking fun of itself or the fans. I don't mind a touch of humor here and there, but this has easily been the longest stretch of episodes where humor was a major factor of the episode.
One of the reaons I like this show far more then Buffy or Angel is that for most of the episode they treat the situations and the characters in a much more realistic fashion.
An occasional lighter episode is fine (1 or at most 2 a season), but this stretch (even for the elements I do like) just makes me miss the "real" show.
And while I do understand that for the writers, the actors and the production doing humor episode is really a nice break, it is way way to much.
And it isn't like I hated any of these episodes (I didn't though two I am very neutral over), and that the show has had, far, far worse episodes. But I think I will hurl something at my tv the next time a read a spoiler for a light hearted episode.
Folks, next week is uber serious. I promise. No comedy. They're gonna be more serious from here on out.

My friend got me into this series near the end of summer and I flew through watching the seasons. It helped that it filled my horror need during October. I didn't finish the series until the first 6 episodes of season 5 had aired, but now I've caught up.
This season has been a HUGE letdown in my opinion. If they were going to make the main story so huge, apocalypse and all, then why are they skirting around it? I really expected this season to feel more epic.
Very disappointed in the direction of this series.

Heh I kinda agree on the comedy episodes, Supernatural usually spreads them out more of course that could mean because of this being the last season (well definitely the end of the 5 year arc) that they didn't want to have comedy episodes in the second half of this season and wanted to deal more with finishing up the story.

I agree. I won't post any future spoilers out of respect for those who've asked me not to do so, but suffice to say there are some upcoming eps that'll make "In the Beginning" (where Dean saw young Mary make the deal) look like a happy episode. Problem was, the show didn't have the budget for an apocalypse because CW wouldn't give it to them. They could basically afford half an apocalypse, so the heavier episodes are coming later.

Normally I enjoy the lighter episodes a great deal, but this one was pretty lame for me. It came across as a fun idea someone like a producer had, but the writers were totally indifferent if not downright annoyed by it. So they just dished something out as total filler and a spark to lead to finding the Colt. Which is really all the episode amounted to at the end.
