NFL Football 2009

prime-time.gif

The last two games have shown the Broncos are susceptible to the "smash-mouth" type of ball you get from the Ravens and Steelers. Even so, I still see great improvement on the Broncos over last year. They have a ways to go, but at least it's starting out encouragingly.

The Broncos of the last two games was what I expected for the season. I think the 6-0 start fooled a lot of people and got them overly excited.

I don't know how much more defense you could have gotten out of them... they made Denver's offense look almost entirely inept, got Orton to throw 3 interceptions, and you got a pick-six out of the deal! :wah:
Yeah, but I ended up losing by 1.46 points. Just needed one more INT.

Considering that Orton entered the game having thrown only one interception up to that point, that was a pretty tall order.

A 2-0 start fools people, a la San Francisco. A 6-0 start means you're legitimately better.

Of course, the Broncos started 8-5 last year. :guffaw:

You can't really compare last year's start to this year's start... Denver didn't even get it's sixth win until the 10th game last year. With that said, if Denver doesn't get their offense to be more dynamic or if they don't protect Orton long enough to successfully do what they've been doing the first several weeks, a major collapse isn't out of the question. Something needs to change fast.

I kind of hate that what will apparently be my 8,000 post (was expecting it to take 8 years, not 7 3/4 years) is going to be a little rant about the Packers, but ...

I'm sort of torn about the Packers game this week. As a die-hard fan, I always have to root for them. But I can't help thinking that in the long run, the Pack would be better off losing. Just write off this year and get rid of McCarthy, Ted Thompson and every one else responsible for this fiasco. But since it's Dallas, I can't even go there this week.

It's hard to see, but the pic in my avatar is from the 1921 Packers, and my grandpa is one of the players. When the Packers sucked, I always said he'd be rolling in his grave, but after doing a little research, I now think he'd be snickering.

Any way,
Go Detroit!!

49ers get the National Spotlight tonight. God I hope they win. It will mean good news for me, and we all get to see what kind of "Love letters" Timby writes this week. ;)

Can't wait for KC vs. Oakland after watching these two offense's set football back twenty years. I like a great defensive game but these two quarterbacks are putrid

Heh... as lousy as Jamarcus Russell has been this season, I think Derek Anderson (Browns QB) has an even lower rating. And truthfully.... the Browns have looked possibly even more pathetic than the Raiders.

Wow. Just wow. That was the ugliest game I've seen in a LONG time. At least I put money on the team that screwed up less.

Man that game was awful. Good thing the Niners won, but I think I need a nice shower after a game like that. Talk about setting the game back a few decades. :wtf:

Wow. It's amazing how Crybaby Cutler has gone from the man who was going to save Chicago to the self-destructing mess he is today. And I love it. :D

I'm done with the Bears this season.

I will gladly accept them as a member of the so-called Brotherhood of Ineptitude. Cutler and his 5 interceptions tonight. Hey, Jay... you're guys are usually in Blue, White, and Orange. Not green or purple or maroon. You know who has a better QB rating than you? KYLE ORTON!!! The guy that took us to the playoffs and then got dicked over for three years. Why the hell did they get rid of him?

NO QB in the league could prosper behind the Bears' woeful offensive line coupled with their awful play calling. Absolutely no one.

That said, I do agree Cutler bears a huge chunk of the blame for Thursday's debacle. That was just a bad performance.

But he can still not throw 5 interceptions. They weren't even jump balls. None of them were close. It's like he's a baby kitten.

Wow, the NFL Network can't get a break. They get rightly criticized for their crappy programming and on air 'talent,' and one of the few times they actually have a real, live, regular season game on, it's a brutal one to watch.

All there games this year are going to be pretty terrible. I think that's part of the problem: they schedule such shitty games.
