What's Your Favorite BEER?

Sam Adams Octoberfest
Newcastle Brown Ale
Blue Moon
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale
Abita Purple Haze
Strongbow Cider
Guinness Draught

We go to a couple of places like the Paddy Wagon in Richmond and a restaurant called The Pub in Lexington that has over 150 beers apiece on stock (most in draft) and I always try a new type of beer every time I go)

I like wheat beers, malty beers and fruity & spicy ones. Stuff like Hobgoblin, Black Sheep, Sapporo, Poacher's Choice, Broadside, Goliath etc, etc, etc. Actually, I tend to like most of what local brewer Wychwood makes.

Still prefer my wines, but sometimes a beer is just the right choice.

I nearly bought box with a selection of their ales tonight, but I figured I've been drinking a little too much lately with my meds.

Just space them out more. :D
I just picked up 4 bottles of Wychwood ales, I'll have a couple tonight, and a couple next weekend... should be spaced out enough.

Normally, beer sold in green bottles should be shunned (as it tends to get skunky);
You're right about that. I won't buy beer in green or clear bottles unless I know that it's just been put on the shelf. I don't understand why all bottled beer isn't sold in brown bottles. I mean who cares what the package looks like if the beer tastes like garbage?

While green bottles skunk easier, you just need to take good care of them (keep them out of the sun, preferably refrigerated).

Beer in green bottles will skunk even when exposed to fluorescent light.

What's my favorite beer? Lately it's been:

"Cold and wet" and...

"The one you're about to bring me" ..... :shifty:

They sure will. In fact fluorescent is worse than sunlight. Even brown bottles aren't immune to fluorescents, it just takes longer.

I'm enjoying an ice cold Becks Dark at the moment

so its my favorite

Lindemans Pecheresse (even the word Pecheresse is great :) ).
At home I usually buy 1664 and I drink Peleforth at the pub because it's half price between 5 and 8 pm.

Most beers don't list an expiration date. They list a "brewed on" date or a "bottled" date.

Oh well, over here, everything has to have an expiration date.

Off topic but I've discovered at work that even my microscope slides have an expiration date. Yeps, it's only glass

And?

If the door is closed, the fridge lgiht is off.

BTW, tonight, I'm drinking a beer normally in a green bottle. Tonnugth it was in a keg, hoever.

I was never able to get into beer. From Coors Light to the most expensive German beer it just always had that taste I couldn't get into. Caused kind of a problem in college when I had to stick with shots or mixed drinks. It was hard to nurse a buzz. I did luck out with finding cider though. I really love that stuff. Do any Brittish Islanders here drink Scrumpy Jack? My girlfriend had it in Ireland and raves about it, but it isn't sold here in the States.

What door? I'm talking about being put on the shelves in the liquor store where it can be exposed to either natural light or even artificial lighting. If you want to play the "I buy it cold" game, then how about liquor stores with coolers that have glass doors?

Green bottled beer skunks easily. The two top offenders I've ever had are Grolsch and Heineken.

I drink beer to get buzzed or drunk, to enhance whatever event or activity I'm attending or participating in. If it doesn't make me gag, it's fine by me. I just want to get fucked up.

Agreed. There is a noticeable difference between beers in green bottles and beer in other containers. I think Heineken tastes terrible.

I prefer the red/amber styles of beer. Preferably in dark bottles.

Has anyone here tried Old Rasputin? From the North Coast Brewing Company, 9.1%.

It's happiness in a bottle...

My favourite is Pilsner Urquell.

I also love or like Staropramen, Efes, Tyskie and Asahi.

I tend to drink the local beers: I like Eden and Doom Bar. Though I do have a soft spot for Old Peculiar.

I used to be partial to felinfoel, but I've never seen that anywhere outside Wales. :(
