National Treasure 3?

Yes, this is one of my guilty pleasures. I love the the first two NATIONAL TREASURE movies, and so does my five-year old. We just watched them both on BLURAY this weekend. Recently I heard about NT3 and possible plots...I hope they avoid ATLANTIS and go for the plot about the colonist village that went missing in 1755 or something like that...I think that would be better than seeing the Gates family hunting for atlantis trying to find a renewable energy source...bad idea...

Didn't the President tell him to look at a certain page in the book, and that's where they left it? Cage's character says something like "I've got an idea about that..."

It's been a long time since I saw it, but it was definitely set up for NTIII.

These are fun movies.

Gates and Riley are in a row boat off the coast of San Francisco and *BONK* run into something invisible. They found Atlantis! They spend the rest of the movie being chased by John Sheppard and Rodney McKay.

I love the National Treasure movies too, although I liked the first one much more than the second. A third movie would be great, either way.

Do you have a link to this. I've not read that anywhere yet.
The next movie is suppossed to be about page 47 AND according to Cage be broader in scope covering a more global canvas than they did in NT2 where France and Europe got scenery.

I take that to mean that the Masons heritage will be explored into their dealings in Russia/M.East/Asia and so forth.

Now the idea of exploring what happened to those settlers in Roanoke Colony off Virgina does interest me and I can see where a movie could be made. Heck maybe that ties into page 47?

I heard the fourth one will deal with Atlantis.

However the creator himself said yes there will be a third one at some point, but plot points are only in his head.

They are fun movies.

I STILL haven't seen any of these movies yet. :rommie:

I'm just not much of a Nicolas Cage fan. I guess I'll check it out eventually when I have the time. How family friendly are these movies? Is there dumb humor like in Transformers 2?

They are very very family friendly, the most is some shooting. Yes there is some dumb humor, OK lots of it. They are fun action movies based loosely on history.

These movies are classic "popcorn" flicks. Saturday afternoon adventure stories. Lots of fun, very light, easily digested.

My friend, who I highly regard for his taste of movies, can not stand them because they stretch reality..but I like them because SOME of the historic stuff they dig into is true..the first one was about the Free Masons and our founding fathers (american) and explored that lore quite well....if they slightly expand on it..

I loved Bruce Greenwood in this movie, I hope he comes back for the third one. I like these movies, but they are no Indiana Jones.;)

Ummmm...I think both National Treasure movies are better than the dreadful CRYSTAL SKULL..and I also think the first National Treasure is better than the Temple of Doom...

But..to each their own...

I haven't seen them in a few years, but I really liked the first two. The first film is better than the second, but both are good productions.

I think they are definitely worth a watch whether you like Nicolas Cage or not. I usually don't like him much either but I thought he was very different in this role, a much more likeable character. The movies are family friendly in the sense that people of any age can watch and enjoy them, but I wouldn't say they have "dumb humor." I'm actually having a really hard time trying to describe it, you really just have to see them for yourself. Anyone can enjoy the movies but there aren't silly kid jokes in it or anything. And there isn't sex, drugs, much violence, or any cussing, so they are "kid safe."

And although the history isn't always accurate I really don't mind. I have a history degree and I find their little historic adventures and discoveries to be quite exciting, whether they are real or not.

They should cross over National Treasure with Sahara and Uncharted and have the most contrived world changing treasure hunt ever.
