There's a scene in part 2 that actually addresses him calling her Sarah. With Rani no less...
from a plot POV Luke might have stolen a few too many of the Doctors lines and make the Doctor seem less amazing.
I've always thought that Luke is, due to the way he was created, part Time Lord. Almost as if he came from a Gallifreyan Loom...Also, I got the feeling the Doctor could have been slightly intimidated by Luke. Didn't the Doctor say that he can see what's fixed and what isn't? Perhaps Luke isn't fixed (he was created after all), maybe the Doctor doesn't like that, but accepts he couldn't do anything against it.
Good second part. I loved the nod to David himself.
I've never bothered getting my hopes up about anything Doctor Who since the Ecclestone series, but even I was disappointed by this. Half a good idea wrapped in the fan appeal of Tennant being there.
Still, it is a kid's show after all.
but would it have been underusing him, for him see Luke in action and recognise his brilliance? Plus allowing the Doctor to get into long streams of techno babble with Luke would be a very good use of the character IMO.from a plot POV Luke might have stolen a few too many of the Doctors lines and make the Doctor seem less amazing.
Agreed. When the spin off episode has the main character from the main series, you don't underuse him.
