im disappointed, they totally wasted Lukes character in favour or Cylde. "Luke you maybe the most intelligent human who ever lived, but just wait with K9" was hoping Luke was coming to do something heroic and Doctorish in this episode, very disappointed.
The Doctor great, seemed he already knew Ranis name, not overly sure how, as she wasnt part of the gang when theDoctor last saw Sarah Jane.

Yeah, I thought that. But then again, he might just watch from afar sometimes, hear them in the news, something like that, never know. I was hoping from something from the Doctor in response to Rani's name.
Also, I got the feeling the Doctor could have been slightly intimidated by Luke. Didn't the Doctor say that he can see what's fixed and what isn't? Perhaps Luke isn't fixed (he was created after all), maybe the Doctor doesn't like that, but accepts he couldn't do anything against it.
I was really really hoping to see a tiny bit more of the Tardis here, as kids love to explore.

you mean theDoctors reaction to Luke is similar to that of his reaction to Captain Jack, its possible, should the Doctor not have learnt from Captain Jack, and really fixed of not, Luke has so much untapped potential that theDoctor should know he can do something wonderful given the right guidance.

Agreed. When the spin off episode has the main character from the main series, you don't underuse him.
I'm wondering now though, if the last episode of the series in SJA, Luke will get ran over. I've seen a small spoiler of the Doctor showing up and saving Luke, who isn't looking where he's going and almost gets hit by a car (in the last two episodes of Doctor Who). Instead of stopping and talking with Sarah Jane, he simply walks back to the Tardis, waves at SJ whose shouting for him, but he simply walks in and doesn't say a word to her. Perhaps he's seen her lose something else close to her, and didn't want her too, thinking it could be the last time he can do something good for her.
But then again, he could have just been in the right place at the right time.

Thanks to this episode, I'm starting to think that the Doctor is beginning to think that he is actually going to die, and the talk about "his time is ending" means he won't regenerate.

Nice. I thought the part where Peter had fallen down the stairs and was dying and The Trickers was standing over him was quite scary in a way. I thought Peter turned out to be a sympathetic character.
I really, really now wish that we had seen more of Tennant/10 with children. He worked really very well with them.
I was sorry that there wasn't more interaction with Luke and the Doctor. That was a shame. Great episode. I liked it a great deal, and it was certainly worth waiting for.

wonderful second part and what a tear jerker, from Peter turning out to be a decent guy afterall to that shot of Tennant alone in the TARDIS...and what's this about The Gate? Does the Trickster know what's waiting for the Doctor?
My Sapphire and Steel vibe about the hotel got stronger, and it was good to see Clyde have A hand in saving the day.as excited as I am bout Smith, the closer we get the more I think I'm going to miss Mr Tennant quite a bit...

Yes the breaking of the fourth wall there was very apt.

but would it have been underusing him, for him see Luke in action and recognise his brilliance? Plus allowing the Doctor to get into long streams of techno babble with Luke would be a very good use of the character IMO.
I was quite surprised at how well the Doctor & Cylde worked together, I was not expecting that.
Also Cylde turning up at Sarah Janes wedding, in suit similar to the Doctors, and with K9, great subtext.
