Favorite "Halloween" movie?

Being that it is soon Halloween, what is your favorite Halloween movie? I don't mean just the Michael Myers Halloween films, any scary movie. I'm not sure if I have a favorite, I like to watch them all. One really movie that my friend and I couldn't finish watching was Redneck Zombies. We thought it would be a funny film, but it was so bad we only watched like 10 minutes of it

I'm a big fan of horror movies and have seen quite a few over the years, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the obvious answer. I love the original Halloween. It's not only my favorite horror movie but it's in my top 20 of favorite movies overall. The atmosphere of the movie is awesome and the music is second to none. My second favorite is the original Dawn of the Dead. I think it's the best movie Romero has made. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is way up on the list as well.
As far as obscure movies, last year I discovered Don't Go In the House. I thought it was pretty disturbing. If you like slasher films Just Before Dawn is an obscure but really good one.

Well, I mean amongst horror fans, I guess. I don't know what your average Joe thinks. Non-fans tend to lump horror sequels together. Halloween 4 is an example of that. I hear people slag on it just for being a Halloween sequel, even though, when you watch it, it surpasses all of the other sequels, and on many levels, is right up there with the original.

Exorcist III has a somewhat soft positive rating of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it fares much better in Amazon reviews. Several of the negative reviews are complaining about the DVD, not the film. (And rightly so.)

Yeah, the DVD is weak. It's a shame too because the film deserves better. Not only is it intelligent and thoughtful, but it has one of the scariest scenes ever committed to film. You know the one I'm talking about.

My favourite scary film of all time is The Haunting (1963 version) followed by, in no particular order...

The Fog (Carpenter version)
Halloween (ditto)
The Thing (ditto)
The Descent
Blair Witch
Salems Lot (ok technically a mini series)
Ringu

Just barely, I think. I like Halloween II as well. I like to watch it immediately after the original, given the continuation.

Oh yes. I may have to throw it into the DVD player later, come to think of it.

As for favorite Hallowe'en movies that haven't yet been mentioned, I like to watch Something Wicked This Way Comes, which has an October-ish feel to it. I also enjoyed the heck out of Trick 'r Treat, which will join my annual Hallowe'en viewing cycle.

Just barely, I think. I like Halloween II as well. I like to watch it immediately after the original, given the continuation.

There's a fan edit out on the tubes that rather successfully edits the two movies together. I'm going to watch it again this weekend.

I also enjoyed the heck out of Trick 'r Treat, which will join my annual Hallowe'en viewing cycle.

I have it but haven't watched it yet. I've heard good things though. I plan to give it a spin tomorrow.
