The Third Doctor sets

Kinda surprised no-one has mentioned these but the Third Doctor sets have been in NA for a couple weeks now. There are two here (and a third on the way) so I figured I'd post a few pics.

I know some of you must have them by now and The, please don't tell me you had to get them from the UK again. ;)

Awesome shots, man! :techman:

Actually, I haven't picked them up yet. I recently grabbed the Blue Suit Colin and the Androzani/Regeneration Colin Baker via a buddy in the UK. For the States, I found this awesome site. Got my Troughton and Hartnell through them. Finally, I found these two via eBay:

Pertwee is my next purchase, right after the house I'm getting next week... :techman:

Nice pic! Offering the K1 Robot some jellybabies, eh? :D And is that the moneybank Tardis some people modified since it's closer to proper scale?

As for that site... That's DoctorWhoMerch.com! That's the site we all railed against for crap service. In fact I swear you once proposed a campaign against them! And FYI, Mike's Comics is still cheaper. ;)

But hey, congrats on the upcoming home purchase. My gf and I spend a lot of time looking but we can't really afford one right now.

Awesome images!

I'd lost track of Dr Who action figures somehow. Last year I saw 4, 5 & 6. Then 1 & 2 (colour, greyscale) and 6 blue suit. Now 3 (cloak, velvet jacket). Both great!

I don't suppose 7 & 8 are in the offing?

They are. Estimate would be end of November, part of a set including:

It's the cookie jar TARDIS, actually. I have the proper TARDIS (electronic whirling or something) for the scaled figures, but I swore I wouldn't open the box until I'm moved and settled. Same with the Eccleston/Tennant console room playset.

Not me! My beef is with Forbidden Planet. You've had problems with them? Man, they shipped my order pretty damn near instantly. Maybe I was just lucky?

Yeah, I really should check them first next time...

Thanks! I'm just ready to get it over with... ;)

I bought the 3rd Doc/Silver Dalek set yesterday through whona. Josan's pictures make me feel a little better about by purchase. I think when they arrive the duo will look quite nice on my desk.

I shouldn't even enter these threads. The links you guys provide to various online Who merchandise is just temptation I don't need!

Hehe. I almost wish I'd never started collecting them myself. I know my bank account definitely wishes I hadn't.

I love the classic Who figures, but I'm not willing to spend $50 for each Doctor, which is essentially what I'd be doing, since the two-packs (Doctor + alien) each cost about $50, and I don't want the aliens.

Yeah, I got mine last week. Haven't opened it yet, though. I got the Sea Devils one. :)

You can get each one for only $35 at Matt's Comics (I'm assuming you're talking about US dollars). Plus, you can just sell the aliens. I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd want them.

Thanks for the info, but I'd pay at most $20 US for each Doctor, and I wouldn't want to spend time selling the other figure in each two-pack. I guess I'll continue to do without. :)

Yeah, I got my Third Doctor with the Sea Devil last week. Very nice.
Just wait for the inevitable "Eleven Doctors' (11 figure set)." ;)
There's a rumor floating around the forums at Who North America that the Eighth Doctor will only be available as an exclusive in a 10- or 11-Doctor set.

Man, that would totally suck if that was true...
:(

And the rumor is wrong. See my post above.

Actually, there's no confirmed second wave and the 11 Doctors set rumour is about as valid as any others. In fact the greater likelihood is that the 7th and 8th Doctors will be released as exclusives the same way the 1st, 2nd and 3rd were.

The Classic Series figures don't sell even a fraction of the New Series stuff, so expensive limited editions aimed at collectors are all we can expect from now on.

Even if it is, what you posted is wrong too. That list first surfaced a year and a half ago, and has already been revised. The Tenth Planet Cyberman has already been released as part of the Cybermen wave. The updated version of the list has the Morbius monster in the Cyberman's place.

Besides, did that list for wave 2 actually come from Character? I've seen that list all over, but nowhere can I find a link to where Character actually announced it. If they didn't, then it's just as much rumor as the 11 Doctors set.

I need to speak up about drwhomerch.com

I got my Death to the Daleks! Pertwee with a damaged silver Dalek. I complained and I was shipped immediately free of charge a replacement set. They were great to work with and I would buy from them again.

That said -- some BASTERD is buying up all the Evil of the Daleks Black Guards on ebay. How the hell am I supposed to breed the Dalek factor in my figures? I swear my Troughton figure is bored being posed around Invasion Cybermen.

So my 3rd Doctor/Silver Dalek arrived yesterday. I have to say, I'm really disappointed with the paint job on the Doctor's face. He has some gray below his nose (kind of like a Hitler mustache). And there are two blemishes in the paint on his neck where you can see the plastic that didn't get painted.

Even worse, I accidentally riped the figure's head off when trying to get a better look at the paint blemishes! Luckily I was able to mash it back into place, but damn - I guess I need to be more careful.

The good news is the Dalek looks fantastic! It's the first one I've acquired, and I really like it. So, overall I'm satisfied with my purchase. But I may replace my Pertwee one day.

Yeah, my Pertwee with the Sea Devil had a couple blemishes too.

There's a gap in the paint on the neck on the right side, just below the hair line and when I tried turning the head, some of paint peeled up, making it look like a tumour on his neck. Fortunately, it's covered by the cloak. which I'll never remove because of the stupid flat white triangle that's supposed to be a hankie since they were too lazy to sculpt it.

I can get by the blemishes, they are toys after all. But the white triangle is just stupid, especially since it's a fairly expensive exclusive.
