My local Pizza Hut sucks.

I hate that there is absolutely no pizza place that delivers to us. We're not even that far out in the middle of nowhere. There's a place not that far from us but for some reason they only deliver north of their building, not south. :(

We live in a small town, so the only delivery we have is the local pizza parlour. However, there is a Pizza Hut, a Domino's, a Papa Murphy's, an Uno's, and another branch of the local in the next town over. So, we get a decent balance of pizza and other fruits and vegetables.

An NHS discount for takeout pizza? How does that work? :vulcan: And how can I get it?

Just show them your ID badge and they'll deduct the discount. You can probably do it via their website too though I've never tried. Despite the discount, I don't eat at Domino's; I prefer Papa Johns.

If you work in the NHS, sign up to NHSdiscounts. If you don't, and want to blag the discount anyway, try spamming the "voucher code" bit of many online sites with NHS or NHSDISCOUNT or other similar codes and you might get lucky and get 10% or something like that. It's rarely a lot off, and the range of shops/restaurants/sites is often a bit "average High Street" rather than uniquely good places, but in the immortal words of another large UK organisation, every little helps... ;)

I think it's dependent on shop rather than the whole chain, but showing an NHS card here will get you 50% off in Dominos if you collect. Quite a few places, especially in cities/towns with university hospitals will give such discount. Often you can get the same for police too but I disagree with discounts/freebies for cops and never use them. A lot of it is a well intentioned 'thank you' but some of it is in essence bribery by the back door - they expect special treatment in return, and you can't tell the difference easily.

^ Breaking into all this talk of pizza delivery places, which usually involve strange and possibly grungy delivery folk driving around in old cars delivering low quality food to often equally low quality consumer residences, I find that - if I really feel a need to consume pizza - it is much easier to just grab a frozen Digiorno at the supermarket and toss it in the oven. After all, you know exactly what you are getting, probably pay less, and have the convenience of consuming it whenever you please.

The only reason I can see for delivery is in the condition that the grocery store is not readily accessible (i.e. living in the woods without a car.)

^ Digorno is good and all...but I find that Pizza parlor tastes much better. There are 2 good pizza places in our town...with 4-5 more the next town over, maybe 10 minutes away, so theres always a place to go. Also 2 Pizza Huts within 20 minutes of he house, but we prefer to go to the local places. Usually cheaper, with larger pies.

I'm actually not a fan of a lot of frozen pizzas. They're okay, and I'm not a food snob, but I don't consider them to be much better than delivery or something. Also our freezer is obscenely small and space is at a premium (and some of those pizza boxes are so large). And last of all, I'm just lazy some nights and really really don't want to go back out once I'm home.

Luckily, I finally found a place that delivers to us! Unfortunately, it's absolutely terrible while also being expensive. :(

I used to love Pizza Hut... but the delivery around here is slow and the food is almost subpar and it's expensive. If you go inside, you get terrible service. I just stick with Dominos. It's fast and filling.

Exactly my feeling. The difference between frozen and fresh pizza is like Mars and Venus, similar yet different.

If you're like me, you liked Pizza Hut as a kid. That's when a salty piece of chewy substance was a tasty delicacy. God knows this and forgives you for this minor iniquity. But as an adult, you should know better. You don't have to live in one of the migrant Italian cities like Chicago or New York to find quality. Seek out a decent slice of pie and taste the hard work put into its design and preparation.

The reason I prefer Pizza Hut over the other places I've been to in my area is that they are the only place that serves stuffed crust pizza, which I absolutely love.

Also, the sauce really makes the pizza for me. That's why I can't stand Round Table or Papa John's, their sauce tastes funky to me. Pizza Hut and Dominos are tied in first.

Frozen pizza is good in its own way, but I have to be in a certain mood for it. It tastes nothing like delivery.

I like DiGiorno, I have gotten good pizza from FoodLion deli/bakery.

DiGiorno isn't bad. I ate it when I was laid off and couldn't afford real pizza.
Then I found a cheaper way to make my own.

Those take-and-bake pizzas aren't too bad, in my opinion. And they aren't frozen, so they don't have all the downsides of the frozen kind.
