And I'm registering my prediction now that the ship is not on a collision course with the star, but is going to dip in and recharge itself with star-stuff, like at the end of Rendevous With Rama.
Oh my god! I was totally thinking the same thing!!

I can see that as a possibility, but why would the ship wait so long to do an emergency recharge?

The crew tried to dial Earth, quickly depleting the power cells before the next planned refueling stop.

Is it sad that we got the whole thing figured out already?

Does that give you less hope for the series if it is that predictable?

Though I'm in agreement that it'll probably happen the way everyone thinks it will, we have to hold out hope in the fact that we haven't seen the episode yet, so maybe Rush'll come up with something clever and saves the day in a way that we all neglected to predict. ;)

Be a first in 16 seasons of Stargate.

An 11th hour save followed by some final remarks from two cast members? NO WAY!

OH YEAH! They're SEXTING it up! Way to be edgy!:techman:

Remember when it was just Carter and her green army fatigues?

^ They did try to bring in Vanessa Angel to play a Seven of Nine clone, but that didn't go over too well with the fans from what I heard.

Rush is no Baltar because, among other things, he has no strong dramatic handle to make him dynamic or interesting.
Baltar might have started out interesting but he sure as heck didn't stay that way for long. He ended up spending most the series trying to cover up his ineptitude and, against all logic, somehow succeeding (this is a guy who nearly destroyed humanity twice and got a harem of beautiful women for his troubles).

I don't know how Rush is going to play out but I find the fact that he has no clear allegiance at this point interesting.

I gave it a five, this was by far the worst episode out of the four so far. I didnt enjoy it. And I still can not stand Eli, he just hits all my annoyed buttons whenever I see or hear him, if his character died, I would rejoice.

That and the entire presentation of the show is not to my liking. If I wanted to watch nuBSG, I would watch that, I mean, I liked how SG-1 and Atlantis were done visually and how they were shot etc...

And, I like the general ideas so far behind this show, in principle at least, but how it is presented so far is turning me off, and I cant help but think that if it was presented in the same way SG-1 was, I would be loving it.

I gave this ep a 7. It entertained me and I was very pleased to see the writers didn't take the easy way out in the same ep and find some "reserve" power or somehow miraculously use the shuttle's power to somehow "kick start" a new power generation process on the ship. I'm watching "Atlantis" at the same time and it's a huge contrast when you see ep after ep of magical technobabble solutions popping up and the seeing an ep of a show where no magic technobabble solution pops up in the last ten minutes.

Also, it turns out everyone's fave eye candy was previously on "Atlantis". http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1365460/

That may be your opinion, but the fact is that Baltar was immediately established in the writing as the most dynamic, deeply conflicted kind of character. That would have been true no matter who had played him.

Three hours in, Rush is a cipher - an underwritten, histrionic android. So far there's no there, there.

Baltar was established by John Colicos back in 1978, we pretty much knew how he was and what was going to do long before the miniseries. Rush however is a new character and I d othink will unfold as the series continues, but we do know that he misses his wife and has a massive ego. It's also possible that he told the Lucian Alliance about the Icarus project.

Please, Baltar on oldBSG has got squat to do with anything that matters. We're talking about the character on the recent, good version.

Oh no doubt "Atlantis" had it soooo easy. They had the right people, all the equipment sent in one go and a softer nature.

Sheppard and Mckay we're goofing off by the second or third episode

"Push me off the railing!"

Rush is basically a more gruff Mckay and he doesn't whine about lemon chicken either.

Glad no Atlantis cast were in the SG:U premiere because they would just bring things down to a sitcom level.

Back to "Darkness" Colonel Young's got an approach that makes him quotable

"Recipes Becker, for the love of god recipes"

"No, no, no, I need everyone away from the walls. Turbulence could break your back's"

Perhaps it's because he and others sound more "human"

so maybe Rush'll come up with something clever and saves the day in a way that we all neglected to predict. ;)

What is so wrong about sexing up the show? Judging from the reaction on other SG sites and such, are people on the internet really that afraid of a sexy female being shown sexily?

You mean the version that lost viewers as it went along or the version that'll be remembered? Since without viewers the newer series isn't going to be remembered, it's just an updated version of the original.

6. I was screaming at them to use the shuttle to access the ships systems last week.

Plus as said clearly the ship dipped through the gas giant to scoop up space petrol and is now heading to the sun to top up its batteries.

I don't like the home/family visits, and having introduced the stones it's stupid they are not being used to rotate in technical and medical help.

Another boring snoozefest. Nothing happened. Dr Smith (maybe I should call him Baltar actually) was funny in ripping other people apart, but other than that it was shambolic.

They're meant to be in critical danger. And they compromise it by wandering around on Earth for some slow moody scenes, completely wrecking any tension. Japes with the cam (adolescent idiots). Potential trouble from the guy on earth. The 'serious moments' of the recorded messages. It was an utter mess without direction.

Also I hate the characters. Apart from Wesley, they are all miserable moaners. And I hate him too... oh man the attempts at humour (like the bonding joke... cringeworthy). They don't want to be there, and neither do I want to be there with them right now. And all this allusions to troubled pasts is not character development.

Man I wish Atlantis was back.

Well I'm still enjoying it, despite the fact that nothing much has happened yet. Least we can see their plan Air, Darkness, Light, Water...if there's an episode named Cheerios I might quit however.

The Earth scenes are really grating, but there is an upside to the stones and I'm intrigued as to whether certain elements are part of a wider plan; namey Telford, anyone else thinking there's more to him than meets the eye? He seems awfully keen to disrupt what's going on aboard Destiny, and to undermine Young, and he seems very keen to spend as much time as possible waiting to be yanked across the galaxy. Maybe he sold out Icarus? Let's just say I'll be dissapointed if he's just playing the arsehole soldier card.

Similarly I'm wondering about Scott's religion. Maybe its just character development or maybe he's going to radically change as a character. Wannabe priest to soldier to priest? At an extreme level might he become a zeleot? Could we see the Destiny's crew splitting into faction ala The Mist?
