I now know how a Mafia type feels after murder!

I drove past the city dump but the line was to big and they charge you to use the city dump. I had to go see my thearpist and I didn't have much time. I would have put in a city dumpster but they frown on that with big stuff so there really isn't much else I could do with the thing.

Jason

Well how much would they charge you? Would it be more or less than what you'd be charged for illegal dumping?

Line too big? You can always come back later. It's not like the matress was going to run away if you didn't dump it ASAP.
Plus in Oklahoma, somebody will probably take it off your hands. :techman:

No kidding. It's called "Freecycle".

The stain isn't a pee stain. At least I don't think it was. I proably should have waited but I already had it in my truck. Few people willl ever see it out in the country so I didn't see it as a big deal. Actually it will be a good thing for people who do seee it because it breaks up the tedium of driving out in the country. People willl be bored and then they see a matress and they willl then get angry or amused or perplexed.

Yes. People love seeing someone else's refuse out in the country.

For the record, this is the proper way to dispose of unwanted bedding:

All i'm hearing is a lot of excuses for why you don't want to pick up your own damn mess.

This makes me literally angry with rage!

God, give me a break. Dumping a mattress in the middle of nowhere. Big F-n deal! It's not hurting a thing, and if it is really in the middle of nowhere then nobody will ever see it.

All manner of critters will probably live inside of the thing. But people act like he has committed a serious crime. It's not like he dumped a bunch of toxic waste in the middle of a populated area or something.

I'm not saying that it was a great thing to do, but it certainly isn't any sort of a horrible thing to do either.

No, it'll grow mold and mildew. Oh, and the inside has springs and wire -- something which a four-legged critter could get caught and injured. Yep, no big deal

Not a major crime, no, only rude and thoughtless of others who have to clean up after him. Was there any valid reason for coming here and making a point of posting about it? Also no. Is it really out in the middle of nowhere? Given that Jayson couldn't be bothered to wait in line at the dump as per:
I drove past the city dump but the line was to big and they charge you to use the city dump. I had to go see my thearpist and I didn't have much time.
...the answer to that is also probably 'no'.

Did he just want attention and that's why he posted as he did? Probably 'yes'.

If you are familiar with Jayson's posting style, you'd know that is his modus operandi.

I tend to be forgiving of a number of criminal behaviors depending on circumstance, up to and occasionally including murder; but littering is one thing that I find deeply and unconditionally offensive.

Go to a priest and seek forgiveness at once, or better yet, go back and clean up your mess.
I can't tell if you're being serious here.

The bit about the priest was an attempt at a little bit of satire; everything else, however, I'm dead serious about. I despise littering.

In the Seattle area where I live, the streets are clean. I'm not going to go overboard and brag too much about the superior caliber of citizens in this region, but overall I think that most people are pretty conscious about respecting public spaces.

When I stepped off of a train near the Bronx in NY, I realized at that instant what "litter" actually means. It looked like half the city's trash was collected next to buildings, in gutters, or blowing through the air. That was my first impression of Manhattan island.

If one person does it, soon everyone does. Bad civic behavior is like a cancer that - if not stopped - spreads through societies like plague.

Litering is not a good thing on a whole but a little bit isn't that big of a deall. Mother nature or the city government will make the matress eventually disapear. Speaking of which that is yet another reason to never go to the city dump. Chances are you are just giving money to corrupt polticians to line their pockets. Seeing as how we were forced to by trash bins a few years ago instead of regular trash cans then I refuse to give them as much money as posssible. Speaking of which I imagine alot of people here would be pisssed if they owned a business and people kepth puttting matressses and junk inside their trash bins. You just can't win with some people. Granted the city sometimes willl pick up this stuff but I didn't know when they next time they would do it and I wasn't about to keep a old mattress around waiting for the government to solve the problem. Maybe if people could always put this stufff out with the trash you wouldn't have people who liter. Why is it they only do it, once in awhile instead of every trash pickup day?

The idea that you're forgiving of actual criminals (up to and including murderers) but not someone who litters, is actually mental.

But you know that, right?

RIGHT?

Is it an American thing that you have to pay to dispose of large items specifically at the dump? Maybe not all around the UK, but for my area at least, you can dump what you like at the local waste site for free (as long as it's not commerical waste) and you dump it in the appropriate section (i.e. general, wood, glass, appliances etc.)
