Uncharted 2 is crazy brilliant amazing [insert gush]

Is this game better than Far Cry 2? I couldnt stand that game and got rid of it. I want to pick up UC2, but am afraid it will be like FC 2.
Better game is subjective, but is it similar? Beyond some of locales, no, not at all. Uncharted 2 doesn't have the same free roam sandbox elements of Farcry 2. The way you play Uncharted 2 is about as far from Far Cry 2 as possible, Uncharted 2 is very linear. I wouldn't let your reaction to Far Cry 2 keep you away from Uncharted 2.

I'll put it this way, I usually don't like shooters of any kind. However, I absolutely love both Uncharted games.

You could pick up the first one, it's a "Greatest Hit" right now and you might be able to pick it up for under $30...
But as one or two reviewers said: This is how an Indiana Jones action-adventure game should be done...
Last night i saved in chapter 15, after an interesting fight in Tibet...

I actually completed the game in two days. I've already started my second playthrough today. I'm now up to chapter 6. ;)

Seriously though, I haven't gotten my copy yet. If it means anything to you, Adam Sessler from X-Play called it the greatest game of that genre he's ever played.

Do you have a link?

They're entirely different games really. FC2 is more of an open world first person shooter, where you pretty much choose what your next objective is. Uncharted 2 is a more linear, more focused third person shooter (meaning the whole game character can be seen on screen).

The controls for U2 are also very different and more reliant on traversal and shooting from cover. I suggest taking a look at some videos on Gametrailers.com to get an idea.

As for me, I won't be getting my copy till Nov. 14th or so :(

I saw the review at Game Trailers... I sort of want to buy a PS3 now. Does Sony finally have a system seller for me?

^ I've played the MP in the beta and demo, but I haven't gotten around to it in the actual game just yet.

Get one IMO. The PS3, in addition to a gaming system, is the best Blu Ray player on the market (and it's relatively inexpensive).

And yeah, Uncharted 2 and MGS4 make the PS3 worth buying all by themselves, IMHO.

I'm a big fan of the Xbox 360 but decided to impulse buy a PS3 when the price drop came through in August, I ended up getting one of the larger models for $299.

Disappointingly to me, the only edge the 360 has over the PS3 this year in my opinion is the Grand Theft Auto/Fallout 3 DLC. inFamous/Uncharted 2 trump Left 4 Dead 2/Halo 3: ODST as far as exclusive games go, in my opinion. And I'll probably end up getting L4D 2 on the PC anyway for the free content (plus it'll be 15 bucks cheaper on Steam). That wouldn't normally be an option but even my computer can handle Source engine games at high settings.

I've actually let my Xbox 360 Gold account expire and intend to play most multiplayer games on the PS3 since it's free on there.

I enjoy both systems and am lucky enough to be in position to own both but 2009 was the year the PS3 won me over.

I wouldn't buy MGS4... I played 1 and 2 and a bit of 3, but I really can't get into those games. I prefer Splinter Cell for stealth action.

Good to her your enjoying your PS3.

And all of the Fallout 3 DLC has been released on the PS3 in the last three weeks or so.

Plus the Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, which comes with every expansion, was released for both consoles, so the exclusive DLC isn't an issue now.

I still generally prefer the 360 to the PS3, but thanks to games like MGS4 and the Uncharteds, I'm very happy I bought my PS3. I just wish I'd known about the rumors that Sony would be releasing a cheaper PS3 a few months later.

However, I do wish that I'd bought Arkham Asylum for the PS3 instead of the 360 so I could get the Joker content, plus apparently the 360 version's camera was kind of zoomed in for no particular reason, which was kind of annoying.

And I'll probably be getting Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3. Playing a Final Fantasy game on an Xbox just wouldn't feel right.

I guess Uncharted 2 is one of those games that serves as a reminder how much out of tune I am with the rest of the gaming community. I'm just not feeling it at all so far. I'm in Chapter 2, so I know I haven't gone very far, but so far, it's just boring me to tears. All this jumping around from ledge to ledge, . . . well I don't find that fun at all, it's just tedious.

The place I stopped last night was in Chapter 2 where there's a room full of guards. Not a big fan of stealth games. I suppose I should have listened to my instincts but I listened to all the glowing reviews. I did the samething with Batman and listening to all the reviews paid off big time in that game, but this one looks like a swing and miss for me.

Guess I need to stick with the FPS's.

^ Do yourself a favour and don't give up on the game. I can definitely see how the first couple of chapters could be a bit... tedious to some players. Things definitely pick up after Istanbul.

Well that's what I've told myself, is to try to be patient and not be too quick to judge it. (Afterall I gave Batman a second look and ended up loving it.) It's just that so far, it's leaving me pretty unimpressed with the actual gameplay.

I guess I didn't know what to expect with the game. I didn't play the first one except for the demo and was kind of "meh" about it. Enjoyed the gun battle, didn't care for the climbing around stuff after the battle. But I'd seen so many absolutely gushing reviews about this game that I thought surely it must be good.

So far it's kind of left me scratching my head going "Well what's so much fun about this?" Of course I know everything boils down to personal taste, but wow, I really seem off the mark on this one.
