No problem. A big thank you to those of you who look at what we've built with wonder and then turn around and encourage us to build more.

The reason that came to mind is that I found a Model Train enthusiast magazine in the waiting room of the Dentist a couple of months ago. I was absolutely stunned. Not just because it never occurred to me there would be such a magazine, but because of the incredibly elaborate models of trains and the incredibly elaborate settings. The displays that people had set up were amazing; cities and countrysides that could literally be used in movies. I was beyond impressed. If you can recommend any good books on the subject, I'd like to buy a couple.

Exactly! And don't forget about puns! You must never forget about puns!

I could easily extend the list by pages, especially after a couple of bottles of Twisted Tea. I'd start with "For inventing Twisted Tea...."

But without all the negativity, we wouldn't have nuBSG, and then what would RJ have to hate?

nu Trek, nu Marvel, nu Stargate, and all the other torture porn that is a sign of the times, unfortunately.

Yeah, I know what torture porn is. Making a point. Torture porn is just part of the overall cultural milieu that gives us all the "nu" stuff and The Shield and Rescue Me and Cops and all the other lame attempts to be "dark" and "edgy" and "kickass" and "hardcore" and blah blah blah. Boring, bland, unimaginative and aimed at twelve-year-olds trying to feel big and tough and it gives me narcolepsy, dude.

Trek XI still isn't any of that, which I can say as someone who's seen the film, something I assume you have not. It's silly, often lightweight, filled to the brim with gags, jokes, and silly humor, glib, shallow, colorful, etc, etc, etc. You seem to think it's "epic" plot points are there for some reason other than why they are (i.e., justifying the film's huge budget and summer tentpole status).

Boring, bland, unimaginative and aimed at twelve-year-olds trying to feel big and tough and it gives me narcolepsy, dude.

...yeesh. I won't disagree on SG:U, but, again, Trek XI isn't any of that, either. It might be poorly written, but it's anything but "boring," "bland" and "unimaginative." Well, maybe that last one.

Why would I want to love anything it is all miserable that is the effects of anger and noises and such

let me think of why as a non-angry word? cause really Why Why Why is angry when it is followed by negatives SO as I purge myself of negativities for the moment.,

Why believe in love?
why believe in hate?
why but, why not either is neither but both are wishes to be free of the other that they are and as they can.,

as we sing the freedom songs the mean nothing to anyone really why would you go again and bend the sky around yourself like that?

that is why that I do love and is why I love you more then you love me and always and freely: but I will never be in love with life again ., why is life even open in the end is there some kind of thing beyond the tunnels light that makes me want to stop and see it again?

love is the earth earthing a new thought for explaining their sorrows of and into the abyss the mystifies the lights that the sky sends to them there as they can talk off the the volumes of noises they make like cakes in the morning of life's dawn into the opening of being as fast less one thing they mean no harm god is dead again but makes no mind of likeliness ..,, wait back to the theme of this thread

for some reason or another - love loves to rise in the morrow of mortar in transcendentally mentally meanings moistly

my cats eat their dead kittens but still they are hungry for food I have not at that time., reads the spells of vomit on the ground there is round and cleaver shapes of time

While it's true that nu Trek is actually in color, I think that pointlessly killing off the parents of the two main characters and pointlessly blowing up two planets which results in the pointless deaths of multi-billions and so on qualifies as fashionably "dark," "edgy," "kickass," "hardcore" and blah blah blah. Not exactly the optimistic exploration mission that made the original series classic Americana.

Mainly pictorials on layouts and stuff like that, but I'm also curious about the nuts-and-bolts; so a mixture, I guess. If you have any pictures to Post of your own stuff, I'd like to see that, too.

You know, I can picture you reciting this on a small dark stage in a smoky cafe, wearing cheaters and slapping arhythmically on double bongos. I really hope that's true.

A few suggestions.....

For books - Check out your local hobby shop. To find one that stocks trains, stop at your local B&N or Borders and pick up a copy of Model Railroader or Railroad Model Craftsman. There is a directory of local hobby shops in the back.

Also, I'd suggest subscriptions to one/both of those magazines. N Scale Railroading is another good choice.

If you have a particular railroad that you like, I'd suggest looking up that railroad's historical society and joining it.

yes I this is a monologue for the abstract double bongo rhythms plus extra noisy things.,

takes picture of the double bongo so you know they are real on my end of this tunnel called the net.,

so aaaaa yeah I write music for the bongos very much the same way I type LOL..,

not funny but really like some experimentalism on the mentalism side of the experiment

Actually I don't; they give me a bit of a headache!

I know, I've been not my normal self lately and I'm disappointed in myself too. I will make more of an effort! To be fair, I'm probably not as cheery as you guys think I am.

I thought of another one to add: I love my in-laws. They're fun, accepting, wonderful people to be around. The whole extended family. Spending the weekend with them was fantastic and I'm incredibly lucky to have them in my life.
