SGU....

I read over on the Gate site that the show opened with a 1.7 rating. The best in 4 years for a Stargate Series. Doesn't sound that impressive. Well, I'm one of 2 million people watching it. I hope it gets a little more character oriented, but still, it was fun for me.

Let's see: Dull, gray sets, washed-out colors, jittery camerawork, awkward editing, arbitrary zooming in and out, inability to keep focus, forced conflict, adults who behave like disturbed adolescents, uninteresting characters and bland actors. nuBSG is back!

I wish this fad would end, already. Lame and amateurish does not equal cool and edgy. The SG-1 actors looked almost embarrassed to be there, especially RDA.

There was also a bit of a Lost vibe to it, given it was a bunch of civilians suddenly thrust into chaos (and the flashbacks); but it lacked the instantly compelling characters and distinctive actors.

It's really a shame to see the SG franchise infected with this tragically hip film school vibe. With Star Trek already gone, that leaves no new Space Opera at all.....
This succinctly sums up my feelings. And I haven't tuned in since the pilot.

And I feel kinda dumb for initially missing this otherwise easily seen forum.

No, it doesn't. Enterprise premiered with the best ratings for a Star Trek series in many seasons - not as high as the premieres for previous Trek shows, mind you, and such appears to be the case with SGU as well.
