Team Fortress 2 Players Thread

I noticed there wasn't a thread here for Team Fortress 2, so I thought I'd start one. Do we have any TF2 players on the board? Anybody in any clans? Anyone else ready to kill Valve for the new item drop system?

The only thing that has really been bothering me is the fact that even though I play a good amount, I still have no hats. I also somehow lost my halo that they gave out a month or so ago, for no apparent reason.

Yeah, I used the idle server forever, never got a hat. I had stopped playing for like a week when they changed that hat drop rates, and just idled the entire time. The day they came out the halo and I tagged a "cheater" within 2 minutes of hopping on our server I got a hat. I have like 3 now. It's kind of funny.

Never idled (I have better things to do than leave my PC on overnight) and have yet to get a single hat. Got about 5 of every other item though.

I tend to go through phases of playing it, right now I'm giving Arkham Asylum a rest and getting absorbed with the RTS mod for Fallout 3. TF2 can be a very hit and miss gaming experience, though at least it's a better community than L4D.

I have to agree with you there about the cycles. I'll play TF2 for 30 hours a week over the course of 3 weeks, then not even fire it up for 3 weeks. It's very odd. I think a lot of it has to do with when my team plays competitively... I get kind of burned out after the season, stop playing for a while, then an update comes out and I get sucked back in. It's a good system Valve has for keeping the game fresh, especially considering it's what, 2 years old now?

I was not idling either. And I still lost my halo, for no reason. I didn't purposely delete it.

I haven't been playing much TF2 lately, because first I was playing Arkham Asylum, and then after finishing that I started working on Red Faction: Guerrilla. So I'm still playing Red Faction. Since I'm also going to be getting an X360 soon, I doubt I will be playing it very much for awhile. I'll probably play a lot more when the next class update comes out (it SHOULD be the soldier)

I suspect the soldier will be left for last, not sure why exactly, just a feeling.

My preferred class is the Demo, so I'd like that to be the next update, though for some reason I think the Engineer update will probably come first.

I'm a big Valve fan but I've been playing more user-created singleplayer half-life 2 mods more than anything -- there's a ton of good multiplayer and singleplayer mods for half life 2.

That said, I come back to TF2 every now and then whenever's there's a new update. I appreciate the constant stream of new stuff to play around with.

Do you mean that your halo isn't showing up or that it's been deleted from your inventory? Because most servers ban halos and they won't even show up if you're wearing them. You might still have it.

Anyway, I love the game. I've never been a big FPS fan, but something about TF2 has hooked me for the past year. I go by the User ID Sanji, although I tend to change it every few months or so. I mostly play CP or Arena maps. I've also become hooked on the Arena Randomizer server where you spawn as a random class with random weapons. There's nothing quite as satisfying as running around as a scout with a flame thrower or rocket launcher.

I played TF2 quite a bit since the beginning of the year, though I've taken a break from it recently (partially because I got a little burnt out, partially because my new video card has compatibility issues with my motherboard).

I can't wait to see what Valve puts out for the next update.

I'm firehawk12 on Steam - there's still a TrekBBS group there.

I haven't played since they changed up the "loot" system though. I usually go long stretches between plays because... well, I've been playing a variant of this game for the last 15 years or so.

No, it's completely gone from my inventory.
