My friend is a waiter in New York and he was waiting on Jessie Eisenberg the other day and asked him what was the deal with his last two movies having "land" in the title (Adventureland and now Zombieland) and he seemed genuinely perplexed according to my friend, like he seriously hadn't thought about it before. I thought that was funny.

Saw a screening last night and I found it very amusing. Surprisingly so in fact, with cinematography I didn't expect out of a late-summer zombie comedy.

Late Summer Zombie Movie? It's thoroughly Fall now in both terms of the "movie seasons" and in the actual ones.

It was loads of fun. The crowd I was with ate it up.

I'm kind of annoyed with the "watch for a cameo" comments, because not only is it impossible to miss, but knowing that there's going to be one, you can see it coming from miles away. Never before have I seen so many reviewers ruin a gag.

Ah, well. It's still a fun flick.

    Stay through the credits.

Yeah, luckily I was totally oblivious to that one.

I didn't stick through the credits though (which I suppose nowadays you always should) care to give a spoiler coded description?

This movie is the most hilarious film I've seen since The Hangover. Never a dull moment. The cameo in question is perhaps the most hilarious scene in a film this year. Everyone in the theater was rolling.

Tallahassee and dying Bill Murray pay homage to Caddyshack.

What was the "WTF moment" you described?

Well, damn, I missed that, since my buddy was ready to leave soon as the credits rolled.

I have to admit that, since I knew about his appearance earlier, it really didn't have an effect on me.

    Zombieland

Rated R for horror violence/gore and language.

    My Grade: A+

    ===================================

This is easily, handedly, is one of the best movies of the year. Easily in the top 2 or 3. Hell, I probably would put it second.

Zombieland takes place in a post-apocalyptic America where zombies have somehow taken over the country (possibly the world, we're not really told) we're not told how zombies came to be but it's possible that somewhere in this world's New York Will Smith has just lost his dog.

Columbus (everyone in this universe goes by the name of whatever town they are from and/or headed) is one of the few survivors and is a typical Michael Cera-ian college-aged loser moping around the country headed to his hometown in hopes that his parents have survived the apocalypse, he has made up a set of 30-some "rules" for surviving the Zombie Apocalypse (including keeping in shape (to out run the zombies), being aware of your surroundings and to wear your seatbelt) he runs into Tallahassee a self-appointed zombie hunter with a tough exterior but we learn a soft interior -much like the Twinkies he craves ("You might not believe it, but Twinkies do not do not last forever.") The two join forces for a time and then run into a pair sisters (Wichita and Little Rock) headed to LA to visit a theme park (the name for it is a place-holder/stand-in for Disneyland but the park itself looks more like Santa Monica Pier) to re-live girlhood innocence.

There's no real driving "plot" in this movie, they're not out to "cure" the zombies, or get to a cache of gold anywhere, they're just a group of interesting characters trying to survive in an insane world and how they all interact with one another and deal with their particular issues. Getting there is a lot of fun. A lot of fun. Woody Harrelson is simply awesome in his role as Tallahassee and delivers a lot of laughs, and as mentioned up-thread there is a great cameo mid-way through this movie.

Go see this. You will not regret it.

I missed the scene as well but with a little obvious Youtube searching you can find the scene on there for anyone else who had to tinkle immediately after the movie was over.

Found it, kind of glad I didn't sit through the credits for it.

There's always the DVD release...maybe better quality will make it funnier.

I had never really seen a whole Zombie flick before this. Not even sure what got me to try this. I guess it just looked fun.

Boy was I right! Most fun I have had with a movie is ages. Not only that but the overall quality of the film was very good. I was very impressed with the staging of the action sequences at the amusement park. Most of all just a great cast of characters.

Liked this so much I going to have to check out some more Zombie movies.

This was probably the most entertaining film I've seen all year. I love the whole zombie genre, went in with high hopes and was not disappointed.

I only own about 10 movies on DVD, but I'll be buying this one.

Mad cow disease mutated into mad people disease.

The kid said it in one of his voiceovers.

Absolutely loved it. It may not have been as consistently funny as Shaun, but there were still a TON of hilarious and inspired moments throughout.

Although was I the only one a bit disappointed that the cameo guy wasn't wearing a certain costume for a certain scene? How awesome would THAT have been? :D

Well, he presented it as one of his theories not as "fact."

And since CJD isn't transmited through bites... ;)
