What is your favorite Element?

Gold. All my life, I've been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness. I welcome any enterprise that will increase my stock, which is considerable.

Plain old Carbon.

Not only is it soot, but its allotropes include diamond (hard, transparent and an insulator), graphite (soft, black, used to make pencils, and electrically conductive), buckyballs, carbon nanotubes (which may build us our first space elevators and supertall buildings), and some really odd other predicted allotropes, too!

Not only that, but all organic molecules (i.e. life on Earth) are based on it, it is essential in all our fossil fuels (hydrocarbons), it forms the basis of caffeine (couldn't live without it!), in fact, its ability to form long molecule chains means it has the highest number of known compounds of any element.

Life as we know it simply could not exist without it.

It's also incredibly malleable and has been used (in salt form) to treat inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. :bolian:

Indium.

However that's really due to my favorite semiconductor being aluminum indium nitride.

Gallium is boring.
