Stick with Abrams.
Shatner was a great director, and I'll stand by that forever.I want William Shatner to direct it.
I am not joking.
See, this is why the BBS can't have nice things.

It would include a long pivotal scene in which Spock is publicly tortured by the Klingons.Mel Gibson. It'll be three hours long, much of the dialog will be in Klingon with subtitles, and it'll be brutal and bloody. And James Horner will score it.

I think TFF has tons of spirit and heart. It's just very clumsily executed and the effects by Bran Ferren are often laughable. That said, it's WAY better than NEMESIS in most respects.

Take away the shiny effects of the new movie, will you get the same amount of spirit and heart?
I think he definitely made a fairer fist of being cinematic than Nimoy. But then I love ST5, even if I'm the only person in the world who does.

Yes you will. The movie had a great amount of spirit and heart.
That beats Kubrick with monkeys screaming for 15 minutes strait.Mel Gibson. It'll be three hours long, much of the dialog will be in Klingon with subtitles, and it'll be brutal and bloody. And James Horner will score it.

Verhoven would be a tragic choice IMO as well.
