Just bought a record player, and uh... now what?

Canadave-if you are going to go to the trouble of owning/listening to vinyl you need a D-4 record cleaner. I bought mine in 1983 and it is still in fine form. BTW, oh retro rockers-can anybody remember TEAC A-800 reel to reels? I actually still have mine in storage. We once soundtracked an entire Halloween party with one reel. As for records-Pictures At an Exhibition, anyone? (ELP, of course...)

I'd recommend a coal fibre cleaner:

The amount of dust those can pull from a previously cleaned record is incredible

German Rock for me = Kraftwerk... and an interesting interpretation of it...
I do not know how to do the proper link thing so mods or others please advise, but until then... for td's pleasure

Oh, but I have SO seen everything I could find by Bill Bailey on YouTube :bolian: - ever since I first saw him on Black Books!

Kraftwerk... If it's out there and by Kraftwerk and I don't have it, please don't tell me; I have spend too mych on Kraftwerk already!

BUT -the seventies- I'm now listening to the BIGGEST album AT ALL from the seventies:

ELVIS-AlohafromHawaii.jpg

And: YES! -I did see it live via satellite!!!!!

Edit:

The link thing:
If want the word LINKY to be your link, do as follows:

[ url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L57-iW6MgA ]LINKY[ /url ]

But without the excess spaces inside the [ ]'s and the underlined part as the actual link (but don't underline it!)

See I've totally missed Elvis as a music sensation ~ and a tad too late to realise that:rolleyes:
Oh and the linky thing has so gone over my head ~ more wine... *hic*

Never mind the LINKY-thing, hwenever you post a link it's automatically going to become a clickable link for anyone to use! -that's just the board-software for 'ya!

ELVIS - The KING of Rock - was part of my upbringing; to this day i suspect mum only married dad because he looked like ELVIS (Darn, where is that picture?)

On 4'th page of that album right now!

ETA:

Now onto:

Remember those days?

That was the reference album if you were going to buy any sort of Hi-Fi equipment!

BUMP!!! - Or is it so late that this thread is slowly closing down?

Anyway: I'll try once more!

Back in -well it wasn't technically the seventies any more- but it definitely was the seventies on stage! - I sat in the middle of Europe and watched the whole thing -again via satellite:

Good news, everyone! Two months on, we finally have a working record player! :D

After finally confirming the model of needle I needed, I ordered it last week, and it came today. It's now installed, and it sounds fantastic. :D

We're currently playing Michael Jackson's Thriller, and I was listening to Queen (A Day at the Races) and Gordon Lightfoot (Gord's Gold) earlier. :)

Good to hear! - congratulations with finally getting some sound out of it :rommie:

So are you up for having a Vinyl Friday™ on Friday?

Naturally. I'm sad I missed out on that trend while it was at its height, despite the fact that I spawned it.

^ Why on Earth did you do that? You should have dontated them someplace, or just given them to a goodwill.

No reason to throw something that still works away.

Lots of people still listen to and collect cassettes.

I mean they are yours to do with as you wish..but if you find anymore, give them to someone who might enjoy them (me!)
