I received a phone call from by local Borders that my copy has arrived and can be picked up.

Pocket Books:
Freed with a thought, the greatest menace to humanity, the Borg are gone, absorbed into the Caeliar gestalt. But are they? Can this deadly menace, that has hovered over humanity for decades truly be gone? Might some shadow of the Caeliar remain? The Federation decides that they have to know and Starfleet is ordered to find out.

The Starship Voyager leads a fleet into a region of space that has lived in fear of instant annihilation for generations, home of the Borg, the Delta quadrant. Afsarah Eden—the new captain of Voyager is charged getting answers, to reach out to possible allies, and resolve old enmities in the Delta quadrant

The perfection that was given to the Borg was withheld from Seven of Nine. Left behind she is living a twilight existence—neither Borg nor human—and slowly going mad. The whispers of the Collective, comforting mummers she has always known, is replaced with a voice deep within her that keeps insisting she is Annika Hansen. Chakotay, the former captain of Voyager, offers to help Seven rendezvous with the ships that Starfleet Command has sent into the Delta quadrant, the probable destination of the mysterious Caeliar.

These are not the friendly stars of the Federation, the unknown and the unexpected are the everyday.

This is a discussion thread so spoilers are permitted. You have been warned.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Damn, already? I haven't finished NES yet!

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

My Barnes and Noble will probably be getting it later this week, so I'll be picking that up.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Well, I work in New York, which seems to get new Trek books about a week or two after everyone else :angryrazz:, so maybe I'll be able to get the book in time for my birthday in three weeks... :p

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Really? I would think you guys would get it first, since that's to be where Pocket's headquarters are. Or are they actually printed somewhere else?

As far as I know, they are NOT printed in NY. I think somewhere in between is where it's printed and bound.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

I'm just going off of prior postings hereabouts, where it seems like people all over the country have got [insert name of Star Trek book here] before it starts showing up in NYC-area bookstores. Of course, this may just be my frustration talking...

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

I should be getting it as soon as royal mail sort themselves out.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Amazon.com lists the release date as 9/29, but my local B&N tends to get copies 3-4 days before any Amazon release date.

Not anytime soon then
Indeed. I swear to whatever deity will listen, we need another postal service in this country, something to rival or beat Royal Mail (which really isn't all that hard since they're so useless). But I will be notified of its dispatch and can then pester my grandmother to see if it has come.

Amazon is listing it as being in stock starting from the 27th and BN.com says ships in 2-3days but interestingly enough, bn.com gets the books before the stores get it. In fact, Borders told me they have it sitting in storage and won't put it out till next week. Go figure.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

And Borders wonder why they're going out of business...

By looking at their shelves I'm surprised they stock any Trek books. Every time I go to our Borders there are fewer, last time there were about 2½ shelves devoted to Trek.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Yeah, same here. When I went a monthish ago they had actually cut back from what they had before the movie even came out. It was down to like 1 or 1 1/2 shelves on the very bottom rows.

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Barnes and Nobles is dedicated to more Sci Fi then Borders is if you compare the shelf space for each including Graphic Novels.

Judging by locations of a Borders, it seems the further out you go, the less you'll find of what you are looking for while the opposite is true of a B and N store..

Re: Unworthy - Discuss/Grade Thread <SPOILERS>

Over the past couple of years, I have had much more success in tracking down and obtaining books by ordering them online. I begin to wonder how long it may be before the ubiquitous stores are phased out altogether.

Sadly that isn't true of the one near me. It's always been pretty much the same as Borders.
