Well I thought it was a great episode, brilliant acting and a nice storyline, but it was a good episode, not a good episode of House. In fact, it wasn't really an episode of House at all, it was sick drug addict in rehab.
As good as it was, I was distracted a bit, by constantly wanting to get back to the other 7 characters and the show.
For those who say the format needs to change, are you sure we're watching the same show? The hospital, the patients, the illnesses are only secondary to the interactions between the characters that make up the show. A background, an environment to contain them, and the format allows the show to be so good. Changing it would not be a good idea IMO.
And while House does need to become slightly nicer, if only to make it seem like the rehab did him any good, him being a pill popping limping jerk who's also a medical genius is what makes him so fun to watch. If he wasn't commenting on cuddy's breasts or spiking wilson's coffee, or getting a patient drunk to test their organs, then he really wouldn't be House, his rudeness makes him popular, make him nice and kind and he becomes boring.
He's dealt with some personal issues, and gotten to be a little bit of a better person, but don't expect any changes to his personality, except maybe a tiny bit happier. But then, being miserable or whatever is another part of his character...
Either way, I can't wait for next Monday
