Rewatching the shows

How do you rewatch? Specifically, do you skip episodes? My OCD nature makes it difficult for me to skip an episode, even if I think it's terrible. There are often good moments mixed in with the bad episodes that I'm afraid I've forgotten and will miss out on if I don't watch the bad episodes.

That said, there are a few episodes that I've made mental notes on - that have absolutely NO redeeming qualities - that I will never willingly watch again. I can probably count on one hand the episodes that fit that category.

How about you? Do you only watch your favorites? Randomly pull a season off the shelf and watch it through? Are you OCD like me?

Depends on what I want to do. Right now for example, I am making my way through the TOS remastered DVD's. I'm watching one episode every night in order. Going through them all. This is because I didn't watch the show when it was being aired a couple of years ago.

It depends on my mood. There are some episodes I'll watch a lot, over and over. It just goes however I'm feeling that day. I usually go in waves.

I've rewatched everything but VOY on DVD. I've just started on Voyager.

DS9 - Never skipped any.
ENT - Skipped ANIS and TATV.
TOS - Skipped 5 or 6. Mostly in the last season.
TNG - Skipped quite a few in the first two seasons, plus many of the holodeck and prime directive episodes.

Most of the time I'm a pick a disc at random person. Only time I watch literally every episode in order is when I first get a particular series/season. Or when I have not watched any of a series in a long time (lately I've been watching TNG this way as I was distracted by DS9 and Voyager for a long time).

Only exception I can think of is with DS9, I will not likely watch any of the mirror universe episodes again when i watch it all over.

DS9 is the only series I recall rewatching completely and in order. I just pic random eps from all the series now... usually after seeing something here or on Memory Alpha and I go watch that episode related to whatever I was looking at.

Generally I'll either just pick out episodes which I feel like watching. (Normally ones I can kinda remember but not really remember well).

Or I'll sit down and plan a series of episodes with a linking theme. For instance I'll watch all the Garak episodes in a row over a week or so. Or All the Romulan based episodes across all series in chronological order.

It's interesting because when you watch the episodes for a key character/race, you end up picking up a lot of the characterisation you lost seeing the odd episode every season or so.

Most of the time I just pick random episodes. I flip through the discs and choose one at random. But, like happydave, I also like to watch episodes with a particular theme. Right now I'm watching all 'Riker episodes' of The Next Generation, for example. A few weeks ago I also started a Deep Space Nine marathon. But I only made it to the third season ...

I select which episodes to watch the same way I choose what to order at my favorite restaurants: I generally select within the same (large) set of favorites, occasionally check out the "second-rate" items, and maybe ... maaaaybe grudgingly visit the left-overs when I have nothing else better to do in life.

It depends mostly on my mood, although I tend to pick-and-choose.

I have been known to marathon some stuff in order out of boredom/depression.

I have a stack of Trek DVDs, and I just pick whatever ep I feel like watching, at random. Sometimes, I'll have a marathon over a couple of nights, and watch a whole season of TOS or DS9 or something.

Man, I'm surprised how many randomites are out there. I've never been able to do that.

I agree. Since the season boxsets have been released, I would have thought more people would have a more routine approach.

I myself tend to watch the whole shebang over the course of 5-6 years, with the exception of Enterprise, which didn't win me over during its original run. I watch the TV series and movies in chronological order, skipping only those episodes that I find absolutely irredeemable.

I watch most of the series in order but sometimes i'll skip over an episode if i've seen it WAY more than the other episodes. For instance Mask (TNG) use to come on T.V. almost daily for some reason when I was a kid. I've seen it so many times that it almost grinds me. I tend to skip that one.

I start with a season that most interests me, then watch the episodes I really want to see again the most. Then I skip around but make it a point to get to most of them eventually.

Some of them I just won't rewatch ever. The three most notable are: "And the Children Shall Lead", "Threshold", and "Let He Who Is Without Sin".
