Hmm. A British sci-fi adventure show about an immortal man, who dies and comes back all the time, traveling through space.
Gee.
Where have I heard that one before?
Except The Doctor isn't immortal. He's
nearly immortal (as The Second Doctor once said about his people). One of the things I'm hoping whoever is running the show when The Doctor hits his final regeneration will focus on The Doctor realizing his existence is coming to an end. I want to see how The Doctor handle that kind of startling thought. Oh, sure, there are loopholes around the regeneration limit (see
The Five Doctors, but I think the show would be FAR more interesting to watch if it forces The Doctor to face his mortality and doesn't go through a cheat. Everything is finite. Even Jack (if he's really The Face of Boe).
And that won't happen anytime soon anyways. If each of the following actors last 3-4 years each, the show wouldn't be ending for another 9-12 years. So why not make it all the more interesting and give this incredible series the grand conclusion it deserves?
