Encarta II: Destiny's Advocate

Picard Alpha

Commander
Red Shirt
EII has been posted to my YouTube channel. Good story, not the best execution. I haven't watched it in a few years, but actually found myself enjoying the story and some of the effect shots. We began production in 2001 and wrapped up within a month or so. The first film was made as a high school video project, and was very rushed. EII was the first "independent film" of the series and at the time we had decided to re-tool the series and try a lot of different things. Obviously there's always things you learn that work and some that don't. What came out of this film that worked well was the friendship between Herato and Lynch and the very beginning of a relationship between Ranks and Lynch. We were young and learning how to get into our characters and explore who they were, so obviously some of the acting is a little over the top. It is what it is, and I hope you can find a way to enjoy it!

I've also posted a few outtakes and behind the scenes features. More of that to come.

A playlist has been created for just the full length films http://www.youtube.com/user/ryanthewebber#play/user/41DF74F77F5EF686.

Thanks Barb,

As of now StarTrekEncarta.com has not been renewed, the site was pulled down after close to 10 years of service. We've decided to look at other avenues for future website services.

I am thankful that you have posted three of your films on You Tube, and if you either post them at another location, make them available for download at download websites, or in any other way make them available, I am happy to post that in my Star Trek Encarta blog at my website.

The English fan series, Star Trek: Unity has a You-Tube home, but is sufficiently confused that it's far easier to watch it from my website.

My goal is to make fan films easy to find and watch. Anything I can do to help make yours easier to find and watch, I am more than glad to do. I know that not long ago your films were sort of legendary, people said they existed, but no one was sure where, and if they still existed, etc. Your films started in my blog of "Fan Films Said to Exist but which I cannot find" (note that I never say something isn't available, I just say I can't find it.). Then when I found Part IV on You Tube, you got your own blog, and then Parts III and II were added. If you create a download at higher quality from a mirror website I'll be happy to link to that website.

Thanks for all your work, Barbs. It's a great help for folks like me who are always looking for a cool thing to write a column around.

Captain Randy Hall, I am delighted to be of any help I can be. I notice that your club is offering Friday Fan Film reviews, and I hope to link to them from the appropriate blogs in my website as well. (So many Star Trek Fan Films, so little time!). It was just last May that, massively disappointed by JJA Trek, I watched my first Star Trek Fan Film, was absolutely delighted, and then looked for a website that summarized and reviewed what was out there in fan films so I could decide what to watch next. When I couldn't locate the website, I decided to try to create it.

Star Trek: Encarta is one of those gems that should be savored by many more people than are likely to find it without a little promotion within the worldwide Star Trek Community. I am so glad that it is being made available, and look forward to watching as much of it as is made available.

I hope your club will consider including my website on your links page as well.

Actually, I do the reviews at SciFiPulse.net, but the club mostly spends time hosting panels at fan-run conventions. Some of us really enjoy fan productions, especially me since I'm writting Fan Film Friday.

I can do one a week for my column, and we could show it at Farpoint next February. Also, I could write a review at the previously mentioned column. But I wouldn't do that without the creators' permission.

So let me know if it's OK to download and use the movies for my column every week and our Fan Film Festival on Fridays.:bolian:

Randy
