"TRW: Beneath The Raptors Wing" excerpt @ Trekmovie.Com

Thanks for the link I can't wait to read the rest of the story after reading that chapter excerpt.:techman:.

Did anyone see this? This is not good news for Enterprise fans! Margaret Clark was a huge supporter of Enterprise books and continuing the story. Just another reason why CBS sucks and doesn't give a rats ass about this franchise. They have fired everyone who has any love for or competency in Star Trek.

Simon & Schuster Lays Off Star Trek Book Editor Promises No Change In Schedule August 27, 2009 by Robert Lyons

A round of layoffs this week at Simon and Schuster resulted in the departure of Star Trek books editor Margaret Clark. The move was a part of a workforce reduction by the publisher, driven by lagging profits in the publishing industry. Even though this is the second layoff of a Star Trek editor in the last year, Simon & Schuster says they are committed to Star Trek going forward. More details below, plus a preview of Spring 2010 Trek books.

Margaret Clark's departure is the the second major impact on Star Trek publishing in the past year. Last December, an even more substantial downsizing at S&S cost editor Marco Palmieri his position. Clark joined Simon & Schuster's Pocket Books in 1996 after editing Star Trek comics at DC. Most recently she has helmed the Enterprise re-launch, as well as the post-Nemesis books in the Next Generation series

I'm very worried, to say the least. Enterprise gets one book a year, at best. Strikes me that poor sales could lead to this latest book being the last, if CBS are actively looking to wipe the series completely off the map.

Chris, I have no idea what they are up to, but what ever it is, it's not good for us. I swear it appears that they are intentionally trying to kill it.

^ Hm, I hope that's not the case...

Here's what Christopher L. Bennett said:
^That's true, but it's important to stress that this has nothing to do with Margaret's editorial performance or the sales of Trek books in general. As with Marco last year, this is part of a companywide round of layoffs at Simon & Schuster.

But then again, Christopher knows better than to bite the hand that feeds him.

It was really shocking news to find out Margaret was let go she was a big supporter for the Enterprise books. I wonder what's going to happen to future plans for The other Romulan war Enterprise books.:vulcan: I wish we could have 2 Enterprise books in a year instead of just one. They've had more than enough post tng Nemesis books how about letting other fans of the other series that like the books have a chance to come out instead .

Reanok: I hate to say it, but I am just not optimistic at all. Pocket books is owned by Simon & Shucter which in turn is owned by CBS. As we all know senior management at CBS has no respect for the franchise and its fans, and particularly Enterprise fans. This is just another in a series of blows the fans have been taking over the last several years from CBS. There will be very little new stuff coming out on Enterprise (not like one book a year was a lot). Perhaps they just want to focus on JJ's Trek and cut the cord to Roddenberry/Berman trek.

I just got the new Startrek magazine in the mail today and it had an Enterprise excerpt I 'm going to use spoiler warnings
The exerpt has Reed and T'Pol meeting in Archer's Ready room it's been about 3 days since the Kobayashi maru incident and Archer is upset about contents on a pad and they're discussing casualty reports of heavy civillian losses due to another Romulan attack.Apparently they were heading to a sector at the edges of Coalition spaceand a starbase was set up to help with the refuge crisis. and there's a bunch of Enterprise crew members who want to be reassigned and it really suprises and shocks T'Pol to see 2 crewmemebers who have decided they want to leave because they have have lost confidence in Archer's actions during the Kobayashi maru incident. It doesn't say who they are.
We also find out that Reed and T'Pol are concerned about the captain distancing himself too much from his crew like he did in the Expanse and they tell Archer to stop out hiding in his ready room. This is going to be a really interesting continuation of where the Kobayashi has left off. There's alos a mention of a picture of Trip and Archer on his desk and looking at the picture of himself and Trip he wishes for a simpiler time and misses the way things used to be.

Probably another week or so before the Star Trek Magazine appears in the U.K. Looking forward to reading the extract.

The downer here is it will be 2011 at the earliest before the second Romulan War book comes out if it does at all with the recent layoffs at Pocket Books. :(

It's going to be a long wait for the next book.I wonder if we'll get any news about future Enterprise books. And whos 's going to write the next book in The Romulan war series.
