Milo......oh, Temis shakes head.....how can anyone find Milo Ventimiglia a more watchable actor than Ackles and Padalecki?
Cuz he just is.

I dunno, I guess I like em cute and dumb. Well that makes no sense, then how can I be even more obsessed with Michael C. Hall? I like variety. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
What makes the "made up shit" about armageddon more compelling is the relationship of the brothers.
Which is why, if the relationship just falls flat for you, the rest of it doesn't make up for it, and there's no reason to watch.
In short, the drawing power of the Winchesters isn't their looks.
Whatever it is, if it doesn't manifest itself immediately, it ain't there. Just accept the fact that it's not something that's going to exist for everyone, and is very much a matter of taste.
There are some shows where the plotline is cleverly written to be grabby enough that it doesn't really matter what kind of chemistry any of the characters have.
Lost (if you have the patience to stick with a very slowly evolving plotline);
Breaking Bad;
Sons of Anarchy; and
Dexter really could get by without Hall as the lead character, because the writing is that strong.
Most of the shows I like have strong writing because there aren't many cases I can think of with extraordinary interpersonal chemistry and/or extraordinary lead actors.
Heroes,
Dexter (which doesn't need it, but has it) and
Chuck (which has good episodic writing but not much of an arc) are about it.
