That South African He/She runner

I don't understand why they don't dissolve the different classes all together. No female/male championships; just mix people together. Males might be biologically gifted to have an advantage at some sports, women might be biologically gifted to have an advantage in others. I find this whole segregation of sexes to be quite offending.

^ I'm sorry but that is just completely ignoring reality. There are hardly any athletic events in which women do better than men, certainly no running, swimming or throwing events. The medals podiums for all the most popular sports at the olympics would be virtually entirely comprised of men.

In events like Javelin and shot put they can't even throw the same weight they are about 50% different, so that would immediately cause a huge headache in fairness.

Men and women are separated because they are in reality completely physically different. The 100m would just be an embarrasment, no women would ever even qualify for the final. I hardly find that offensive, that's ridiculous.

Ofcourse men and women are physically quite different -- duh. However, I doubt most men are as flexible, agile or light as women. Sports that have an accent on those qualities should be more easily won by women. And sports that weigh heavily on strength or muscle power should be easier by men -- simply because of the physical differences in men and women. To create different classes for women and men just seems silly. But then, sports seem silly to me. :D

So then you really wouldn't know what you're talking about, would you?

The fact that I think sports is silly to watch, does not make me completely non-knowledgeable on the subject. I might be, but that would not be because of my opinion on it. To imply that one has to have no knowledge on a subject in order to find it silly is very silly.

I just think that, if you really want to create different classes in order for sports to be "fair" for everyone, you should do it right. Events for men, for women, for phsyically handicapped, for mentally handicapped, for those who once used to be male, for those who once used to be female, for those who are both, for those who are none, for those who have more testosterone, for those who have more estrogen, for those who are very tall, for those who are very short, for those who are very skinny, for those who are very fat, for those who have big boobs (can be a hindrance in some sports), etc. etc.

Most logical option seems to me, to just quit segregating all together. So what some sports will mainly be won by women and others by men. That's natural. No need to get all worked up 'bout it.

I have been trying to think of any sports in women would have an advantage. I can't think of many but did come up with

1) horseracing - because women on average are lighter than men
2) women's floor exercises (and possibly some other form of gymnastics)

possibly sychronised swimming.

There are some sports that a woman would be equal or near equal to a man such as bowling, equestrian events and shooting, maybe archery. Possibly diving.

But on the whole thee are very few sports in which being a woman would be an advantage.

I've been bowling most of my life and I can tell you that there aren't very many women from any league I've participated in who have averages as high as the top men. I don't know why that would be, but it's borne out by the statistics. (I think the top woman in my league - which has about 60 teams, though because there are three sessions there are some people who bowl on more than one team on different nights - is somewhere around 10th place overall in average. I'm usually somewhere around 20th-25th with a 165 average, and there are generally only two or three women ahead of me.)

The only reasons I can come up with for this are a) they tend to use lighter balls, which can make a difference, or b) perhaps their breasts get in the way. (I don't know if that would cause lesser accuracy or if it has to do with the different centre of gravity.)

Feh. I can think of three right off the bat:

1) Jello Wrestling
2) Foxy Boxing
3) Trampoline

Some of us are just more sports oriented, I guess. :D

What about ping pong? Figure skating? Cooking?

I wasn't just thinking about ten pin bowling but lawn bowls as well though even with lawn bowls maybe a man's extra strength might give him a small advantage.

I just about died laughing when I read "cooking".
Then I ran for the nearest shelter I could find.

I didn't think iof these two but you are probably right about them.

Still it would not leave many exciting sports for women to excel in if they had to compete equally with men.

Definitely not horse fixin, I mean racing:rommie:. Smaller men are used because of the power ratio they can produce. Sort of like 14 year old girls always beating women in gymnastics.

In figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, ballroom dance, diving etc are they really a sports? Nobody is judged by how fast or how far they go only on a judges subjective thought of who looks better.

Bowling, upper body strength and being taller thus a greater arm arc give men the advantage of heavier balls and more momentum as it hits the pin. Archery, draw strength on the bow.

I don't consider anything that has to be performed to music as a sport (rather it is an art-form).

Diving I am a bit iffy about.
