The Federation, Klingons and Romulans have been thought to be metaphors for The US, Soviet and Chinese governments... especially the Cold War relations prevalent in the 1960s.
"A Private Little War" was a story about the Vietnam War of that era.

Somehow I can't quite wrap my mind around Janeway ever having a body like that. I'll have to imagine this under her uniform the next time I watch Voyager. Nice job.

But yeah... the hair-do in the pic can give that kind of impression I guess.

And here is another fiddle I did.. this time I'm taking Mary Mcdonnell (best known to us SCIFI geeks as President Laura Roslin from the new BSG) and put her in a uniform!

This reminds me of the time during the US election campaign when people kept comparing Roslin and Tigh to Palin and McCain... (Obama, OTOH, was compared to Spock or Tuvok).
