Romulan War: BtRW excerpt on Trekmovie.com

I found this this afternoon.

I know that the RW is a major event in Trek history, so there are definitely alot of high expectations for this book, sadly it was a little hard for me judge if it will meet them if it will meet them by this excerpt alone. But I've enjoyed the other books in the series and the other M & M books I've read, so I'm pretty sure that it will be good even if it doesn't meet the sky high expectations.

I wouldn't take offense! there's a lot of other stuff going on...
I'm off to check it out right now. Can't wait... the Enterprise novels from The Good That Men Do have been great so far. :)

I was suprised this thread was going so slow is all. I thought this was a one that a lot of people were anticipating, so I was expecting more activity,

You know, I was waiting for a thread to be started on this. It's certainly very exciting that we are so close to a book about the Romulan War being out! Trust me, you're not alone in eagerly anticipating this new addition to Star Trek lore.

Finally.. it looks like this might be drawing an end to Trip's current spy assignment. That has easily been the weakest of the Enterprise 'relaunch' books for me.
I am excited for the War to begin. :bolian:

I'm definitely looking forward to getting The Romulan war book. I still wonder what's going to happen after that heck:bolian: of a cliffhanger in Kobayashi Maru.I preordered The Romulan war book.I can't wait to finally be able to read it at long last.

I'm looking forward to this book too and enjoyed the extract.

Do I have to have to have a detailed and intimate knowledge of the Ent relaunch before I read Beneath the Raptor's Wing? ;)

I won't be surprised if there are a few more excerpts out before the month is over. M&M have done it in the past. I'm one for this storyline too. Been waiting for it for so long now, even before the show was cancelled.

^As I recall, it was Andy Mangels who was posting the multiple excerpts on his own site, and he's not involved with this novel.

Agreed. Don't mind the "Trip isn't dead" stuff too much, but the reasoning and storyline to go with it wasn't the strongest. Looking forward to what has potential to be an interesting, epic series here. A ton of potential material to play with, and aside from some off-mentions, no one has ever touched this period, so it's wide open to be explored!

You are correct, Christopher.

Michael has no web presence that I know of, and hasn't interracted on this forum TMK, for about six or seven years.

I'm starting to get confused about this one character:
Sopek, or Ch'uiv, or whatever the hell his name is
. What side is he on, really. Is this a mystery that's yet to be resolved? Whichever species he is pretending to be, he seems to be an agent for the opposite side. Which one is real?

As far as I can remember, we don't know yet.
We saw the Vulcan Sopek in the episode "Shadows of P'Jem", but then Trip ran into the same person in The Good That Men Do, only now he identified himself as the Romulan Ch'uiv. But the in either TGTM or Kobayashi Maru, he said he really was Sopek but he was undercover. I belive that was as far as things have gotten with him.

Is the entire Romulan War being covered in a single book?

No, this is just the first book. That's why it has a separate subtitle beneath the Romulan War title. How many books it will take to chronicle the war remains unknown.
Oh really? I thought it was originally planned as a trilogy and then changed into two books. It's not known now how many books it will be?
