I thought it brought more depth to the Spock character like he is half human and what was wrong with him having a relationship with Uhura

This is one of the more logical points, IMO. Having redundant or multiple warp cores seems much more logical. I never bought into the single lava lamp warp core (with no spares) thing.:vulcan:

I agree. I always liked the Lava-lamps, but I also like this idea.

How many redundant nuclear reactors does a submarine have?

How often are there situations where ejecting the nuclear reactor is the best thing to do? Or how many situations? Btw, I don't mean that sarcastically, if there are legitimate situations, it's a fair analogy between the Enterprise and submarines.

My cringe moment is Pike saying the Federation is a humanitarian and peacekeeping armada, and not Starfleet.

The Brewery sucked the big one.

Kirk was an ass in the Kobayashi Maru scene.

Scotty's mate from the wrong sci fi franchise.

    The bar scene

All the Klingon stuff getting cut from the theatrical print of the film made me cringe...to be frank. I had been so hoping to see Nero on Rura Penthe in the theater. What's the point of marketing Klingon toys at BK and showing Nero in captivity in a couple of the trailers if you're just gonna jettison FOUR MEASLY MINUTES of footage?!

"humanitarian and peacekeeping armada" made me cringe. "Humanitarian" is racist (and we all know how sensible alien cultures are in Trek), and "peacekeeping"... I believe in TNG they once said that Starfleet is not the police. And a lot of times they have stayed out of wars because of the Prime Directive and other non interference reasons. Peacekeeping implies otherwise.

Frankly, I like the "humanitarian and peacekeeping armada phrase".
Long before the PC elite made TNG so boring, a show called Star Trek had Kirk and the other starships "patrolling" the galaxy and keeping the peace on the frontier. It was nice to see this movie go back to its TOS roots.

I hated the "aural sensitivity" pun from the first time I saw it. It was one of those things that pulled me out of the movie.

I have no problem with eastern Iowa having a huge quarry (how else do we gravel our secondary roads?) but at least film a part of California that looks moderately like Iowa- Iowa is not flat with sandy dirt.

I was hoping to have a good Romulan story- instead we get these aliens that I only realized were Romulans because the movie told so.

Can't say those things ruined the movie for me though.

Nothing made me "cringe" exactly, but Chekovs accent was a little thick for my taste. I know it was a running gag in TOS, but a couple of times I had to strain to understand him.

We didn't know her first name all through TOS and TAS and until William Rotsler's "Star Trek II Biographies".

Yes, that would be the difference between you watching a TV show, and a character going to an academy for three years, and... nah, nevermind, you made up your opinion.

Actually, I doubt that was intended as a pun...
I could be wrong of course but i never saw it as them trying to play on the oral/aural joke.
Aural seemed natural to use given Uhura's job & what they were talking about.

Anyway, I cringed when I first heard Chekov talk. But it somehow grew on me as I heard him speak more.

Honestly, I couldn't find any cringe worthy moments. I enjoyed it all, and again on my second and third viewing. I think I was having too much fun. :D

I had lots of cringe-worthy moments during my first viewing. But i'd say i got over 99% of them by my 3rd viewing. I've pretty much accepted NuTrek and everything it implies and i am a much happier Trekki....er, person for it!
