Marvel should spin their mutants off into their own universe...

After all, it's practically that way already.

I guess it started waaaaay back in the late 80's when the geniuses of Marvel decided to make the X-Men fake their deaths and put them in Australia. They really haven't entirely recovered from that segregation, no matter how many crossover events that were attempted. The most blatant being House Of M. Plus, there are enough character's in the Mutant-verse (dispite House of M's mustant depopulation attempt) to have a universe of its own. Marvel's mutants don't seem to fit in anymore, in my opinion. Anyone else agree?

Not been reading Utopia then ? Nothing segregated about that. Uncanny X-Men and Dark Avengers are directly tied in with each other.

I got sucked into the "Mutant Mania" of the late 80's/early 90's and quickly grew tired of it.

I honestly don't care WHAT Marvel does with the mutants.

They should have a definite explanation for why mutants are hated but no one has a problem with other superpowered beings.

Well, if the Civil War and World War Hulk showed us anything it's that not everyone loves superheroes.

Right now, Mutants are only a minor problem anyway. Their numbers are dwindling rapidly and they're mostly bottled up in San Francisco.

There is one hope (pun intended), however.

Actually, I only feel that it's right now that the X-Men are starting to come back strong in the Marvel Universe after the last few years of the Avengers (and briefly Spidey) taking center stage, especially during Civil War and Secret Invasion...

Yeah, aside from you-know-who...

Strange, that individual actually has no problems with mutants...

The mutant community hasn't been interacting with the mainstream Marvel community because Scott and Emma have wanted it that way for the longest time. Now they've been taking a proactive stance. Utopia is the latest to show this...and I assume that a much larger story will be taking place.

Well, at least it's not as bad as Xavier. He tried to keep them all locked up inside the Mansion and kept making it seem like Mutants and Humans were two different species. Scott and Emma at least gave them their own city.

I'm pretty happy with the way things are right now. I don't think they need their own separate universe.

It would be nice though to see something substantial happen to put mutants back into a significant place in the Marvel universe.

Honestly I think they need to work better at making mutants a more real factor in the super hero community. I mean I recall reading some comic in the 90s where some hero was bitching that all the "good" teams were busy "The FF are in space, the Avengers are all busy (which is such a load of bullcrap, there've always been a million "reserve" Avengers"), and I even the X-Men weren't available" yeah because you called them LAST!

At least in the Scott/Emma era the X-Men are less a bunch of recluses and more public and open about their abilities. And the fact that Emma 90% of the time wears her super-revealing little leather outfit all over the place and practically refuses to go by a code name, that she's like "I'm fuckin' hot, I'm a mutant... and I'm a telepath. I don't care if you look at my ass, just don't piss me off."

I think Scott has slightly more balls now than he ever did. The Prof and Jean kinda neutered him, he was always looked at as this "great leader" but when they would team up with say, Reed or Cap, he was sort of overshadowed even though among the Mutants he's like "big bad leader man" - at least he's slowly become more commanding, even going against Emma from time to time, even though it seems that doesn't stop her from wearing something lacey for him.

Lucky SOB.

Yeah, and him walking right up to Norman Osborn (who is practically ruler of the planet now) and saying "Okay, surrender. You did your job now get hell out of our city and leave it to us." and then flying off when Norman says "No". Slim just pulled something even Logan wouldn't do.

I do like the "new" Scott. I mean I think I can really see him as a leader now, not just because his trading card says he is. Hope that he and Emma remain a couple, even if they have their moments of tension - clearly the new relationship has been good for both characters. And Emma has gone from simply the bitchy, overtly sexy dominatrix wannabe, to a commanding, respectable character. Someone that you understand can be a real bitch, but that comes from passion and more than a little self confidence. Clearly any woman that could walk around AND kick ass in a panty/bra costume (referencing her old Quitely costume that resembled an X with her skin as the X and the bra, collar and panties as the "white space") or a bra and hip huggers and a cape and high heeled boots... HAS to have some confidence.

Now if this was reality, Emma Frost would be tied with Bai Ling for "Queen of the Nip Slip"
