PS3 slim offical, price drop acorss the board to $299/Euro299/£250

Either way, shrinking your PS3 at the cost of a few 360 games doesn't strike me as a great deal. What would you gain?

The bigger hard drive is the only thing I can think of... but I guess it depends on how much you liked the games you're trading in.

Oh dear, this is a bit embarrassing, it was the 360 60gig i traded in with all its old 360 games.......i have no idea how i managed to type PS3 60gig and i only now noticed it when that lynch mob came storming up the thread.

So just to clarify, haggis is a dough-ball and needs to concentrate more when typing....

My apologies, i am seeing PS3 in my sleep.

Interesting news on how analysts think the PS3 price cut will affect the Console Wars (namely the Wii).

Interesting how this article claims Nintendo to be in trouble. Haven't they already done well enough with the Wii? All The PS3 can do is catch up.

I would only consider getting a PS3 Slim if it had PS2 backwards compatability, and since it doesn't, I'll stick with my 60Gb model.

I love how Sony have reduced the size from "fat cunt" to "average", and knocked the price down from "stupidly astronomical" to "would have been vaguely reasonable 2 years ago", and people are behaving like they made it smaller than a matchbook and reduced it to a fucking tenner.

It's that small I don't even see how the discs are gonna fit in.
If it'd have been this price at launch I still wouldn't have bought it, but if they'd have had the price cuts they've had, I'm certain I would have bought it by now.

Given that the PS3 includes an internal PSU, whereas one could inflict significant head trauma with the X360's external PSU, I'm not sure where you're going with this.

and knocked the price down from "stupidly astronomical" to "would have been vaguely reasonable 2 years ago"

Microsoft were offering an X360 model with HDD and wireless functionality for under USD $200 two years ago?

and people are behaving like they made it smaller than a matchbook and reduced it to a fucking tenner.

Which people, exactly?

Well its almost the same price as the 360 120gig Elite which is £230 here in the UK, only difference being for £20 on a PS3 you get a built in BR player, built in wireless and free online play.....and that £230 is assuming you don't want to play your 360 online, if you do then that's a extra £30 you have to add on to the 360 for 12 months online play that now makes it £10 more expensive than the PS3.

Most people before they buy anything compare stuff to each other, that's no doubt why the PS3 has been getting a lot of second glances, compared to the competition its looking like the best value for money, even if all your doing is playing games, its still cheaper than the equivalent model for the competition to do the same thing.

But then you do have to add on £15 for the remote, and £5 for the HDMI lead. Which when you're talking about spending £250 (or more) might just be the straw that breaks the camels back, in terms of what you can afford to spend.

Well you don't really need a remote, but lets look at the essentials you will need for each machine to do the same thing, play games.

PS3 120gig £250 and £10 for a HDMI cable...price £260

360 120gig £230, £10 for a recharge pack of money for batteries, plus £30 for online play...price £270.

You could go for the arcade 60gig pack at £170 but that comes with no HD cables, no HDD, and its still £30 for 12 months to play your games online, and with no HDD your limited to what you can do online and what you can access from the offset.

But hey at the end of the day its up to the individual what they want, as long as they are happy with their chosen system who has the right to say other wise....live and let live.:)
