Star Trek XI Vs. Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan - simple poll

Another one of my Simple Poll series.

More than three months have passed by after the release and exceptional reception of Star Trek XI. It was mostly loved, somewhat hated and somewhat jeered by the... okay, lets not go into those specifics. Fact of the matter is, till this May, a whole lot of Trek fandom constantly voted TWOK as the best Star Trek feature film ever. But now that the new movie is out and fans have seen it 2, 4, 7, 12,, 15, or 20 times in theater, do you think XI is better than TWOK? Or does TWOK still hold up better than the new one?

As always, NO explanation is needed for your choice, but you are more than welcome, and certainly I'd feel great, if you were to post your thoughts regarding your choice.

I chose, although it was a bit of a tough choice. I had to sit here for a few minutes and really think it through, but all in all, and all things being considered, Star Trek XI wins, hands down, for me.

Trek XI is a great movie, but STII still reigns supreme.

I felt that way, too, but I tried to look at TWOK freshly like I see Trek XI so that I could make a fair comparison. I thought "What if both of these were played side by side and looked at with new eyes?" and for me, Trek XI still wins.

I voted Trek XI after careful consideration, that being said......

To be fair, the special f/x for STII would need to be updated using the latest technology in order to make a proper comparison.

Once done, the visuals would be comparable and what you're left with is character development and the strength in the storyline.

Although far from perfect, STII is superior in this regard and therefore is hands-down still the best movie of the franchise.

3 months later and I still think it's too early to compare it to something like TWOK. I remember thinking First Contact was superior to TWOK for over a year, but have since gone back.

TWOK is more nuanced and layered. XI worked on a much larger scale and was a popcorn flick bonanza. Neither approach is wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I love XI. But yeah, too soon to be objective, I think.

Trek XI. I like that it has more action and I think the story has a more optimistic look to it than TWORK. But both movies are excellent.

STXI is good and has better SFX, but STII is miles ahead of it.

Great TV series, lame movies--wasted potential. As Trek movies go, TWOK wasn't so bad, nor was FC. I haven't seen J.J. Trek and don't intend to ever sit through anything like that.

Don't get me wrong, I love XI. But yeah, too soon to be objective, I think.

I'm tempted to vote XI (just watched TWOK last Friday), but I agree with this sentiment, so I'm not going to vote.
