attention girls: embrace your inner...

Now I just have to get shoes.

I usually buy shoes first then figure out outfits to match. ;)

Really? I said that to my sister and she just looked at me like I was crazy. But then again she often gives me that look LOL. l I found the shoes today...yeah I found about 4 pairs of them:)...but they look good and more importantly they feel good. Had to spend capital though, I cannot deal with cheap shoes with my feet..... I need to be dancing the night away in them!

So...now we can indicate our gender, as most of you know. I'm glad primarily because it makes writing so much easier when you don't have to avoid using a personal pronoun to refer to somebody whose gender you don't know.

But the other reason I'm glad is because...am I the only one who finds it unsettling to be referred to as "he"? I don't have this problem here - I mean, "Kate" is in my screen name so most people assume I'm female - but it happens of course when I have gender neutral screen names. Do any of the rest of you find it unsettling? Or don't you care? Or do you find it liberating?

^ While I haven't been confused for a guy all that often so far, I do prefer to be adressed as a woman. After all my gender is a part of my identity and I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a guy.

The weird thing is, people still refer to me as a guy, even though I have Hugh Jackman's pants as my location.

This happens in many forums. I don't always choose 'feminine' names but it astounds me how feminine my profile info is yet they still think I am a guy.

I just went to your profile, KT, and...OK, people who think you're a guy are simply Not. Paying. Attention.

^ Not often, but I would if I wanted to know - such as before I used "he." I'd check to see if there's any indication that the person I was writing to is a "he." If there wasn't, or if I didn't want to take the time to verify, I'd dodge the issue.

That's what I do. And is also the primary reason I put "mom" as my occupation on my profile, figured that would make it clear to people.

On any forum that doesn't have sex-identifiers I always get referred to as male. I don't really have a problem with it, although the many posts of "Bloody hell, trampledamage is a girl!" does make me wonder if I appear particularly aggressive in my writing or something...

^^^ It's not aggressiveness at all, it's something else. I know I was a bit surprised to find out you were female way back when. Not a whole lot, just not what I had expected. I don't think there's a person on here who doesn't realize I'm female, though!

Okay ladies. Do you ever have days where you're upset and you don't know if it's hormones or if you have legitimate grievances? Because I can't tell with myself today!

Yup, I do. If you're not sure, wait a day or so. If it's a legitimate grievance, it will still rankle your sense of justice. If it's hormones, it'll probably have passed.

I've been mistaken for a guy and referred to as "he". I thought having "babe" in my name might be a bit of a give-way. Seems I've been too subtle! I notice too, that when I get referenced as a guy, it's usually in a thread where I've been admiiring of the menfolk - you know, commenting on the hotness that is Jackman or something. It's really quite amusing!

Oh it happens to me too. I never have girly screen names. It's fun playing along when people assume I'm a gay bloke. It would be so much easier if people just clicked on one's profile, but...... *sigh*

Anyway, everyone, please kiss Haldir. He needs some love. Peter Jackson killed him, poor puppy. :D

People always figure me out. I think it's a vibe I give off. :(

That does make some sense - I'm generally more comfortable in the company of men, so I guess - however these things work - there's more of me from Mars than from Venus ;)

All the time (okay, once a month :p) - I get into a pit of despair and worry about how I'm ever going to cope. Then I feel better the next day and I realise it was just the hormones. Unfortunately I don't remember this revelation the next time!

I hear ya!

I'm under a whole lot of stress with this new job, and by a happy  coincidence, I also started my period early in the week. I've been crying every day, and it is annoying AND embarrassing!

Right now I wish I could just disappear into a deep chasm and never come out. :(

That's the other one that gets me - new job stress. I get so overwhelmed and think I'll never get through.

Not a good situation since I worked as a consultant, so pretty much started a new job every six months, with all eyes on me to make sure I didn't screw up with a new client.

In the end I wrote in big letters at the front of my notebook - remember it gets better!

Oh you poor thing. I hope it all improves very fast for you.

I get very emotional and easily agitated when I have my period.
