Lie is short for life

That's not a good thing, is it? Did anyone see that Ray Bradbury theater episode where that guy from the future comes back in a time machine and tells everyone that in 100 years from now where he comes from, man has made Earth into a paradise, has cleaned up and saved the planet from a toxic wasteland. Then in a hundred years when their descendants finally meet him in a world which he described, he tells them everything he told them was a lie.

I don't rmember seeing that episode, in fact I haven't seen The Ray Bradbury Theater for many a year.

I do however have The Ray Bradbury Theater - Complete Series on my Wish List at Amazon. It is 65 episodes on only 5 discs and some reviewers have said that the the quality is poor because so many episodes have been crammed onto each disc. As a result I am hesitate to buy it though it is very cheap (at $14.99). Has anyone bought this colelction?

^^ I have some episodes on DVD, but not the complete series.

This sounds like Bradbury's story about a man who claims to visit the future and shows the world evidence that Mankind has created a peaceful Utopian civilization. This inspires people to work toward that goal and it therefore ultimately comes true. It turns out that the guy lied, but the lie gave Humanity the impetus it needed to save themselves.

I forget if he actually found a dystopian future or if he lied about the time travel altogether.

Ok...now it sounds better.

That vaguely reminds me of "Devil's Due" from TNG.
