Sometimes I look at my childhood photos and am wistful for times that were a bit more simple, or at least felt that way. Then again, sometimes I wonder if that child saw me today, would he approve? What would he think?

Yes...wisful mixed in with some pain because most people in all the photos are now dead. I tend not to revist them much.

I wonder if the child in the photo would approve of what I've become. I always vowed to myself I would never be like the other adult females of my family - forever living within very narrow cultural confines. I think I may have liked my present self. I am just what I'd always wanted to be. So, no, I don't have any bad feelings when I look back at old photos, which fortunately, I don't often need to, as my mother has the majority of those. I have no regrets either... if I had not gone through the things I did, I would not have had as many opportunities to grow.

Yes and No.
On one hand that little girl had all this promise and her whole life ahead of her...she could of been anything she wanted to be....instead of just......nothing. Her family had major problems but they still always stuck together...she didn't know that it would all come to an end soon.

On the other hand everything I've had to go through has also made me into the person I am today...which is a damn fine person! I have my issues and problems, obviously, but I feel I can weather almost any storm. There may be tears added to the sea in the storm...but I can ride it out.

Depends on the day and the photo.

Most of the time it's okay. Sometimes, I think of that poor little guy, how all his fuckups and bad choices are ahead and wish I could tell him, "Listen, at some point you'll have a choice, to do this or that [specific instances follow]. Don't. Make the other choice. Trust me. It'll be okay".

I remember seeing a photo taken of myself when I was about five or six years old. My hair was done in braids..I thought: I wish I was as thin now as I was back then! I was so thin that I blew away in the wind sometimes! I'm very envious of the girl in the pics when I look at myself. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the times I was a kid..especially in middle school..so I could get back at the people who ridiculed me, bullied me, and called me names every single day of school. It was a miserable time for me..but it went from being so miserable..to so much fun and delight cause afterwards I went to a private school and was a basketball player and a cheerleader all at the same time!

^ I know...nobody would look at me at the end of high school and college because I was pretty heavy. Nobody knows you. But now I have the "hot" guys from high school contacting me thru that stupid classmates site...I'm like LOL you're interested now huh? I have to laugh because everybody loved me but not in that way. Therefore, I was a late bloomer...I'm just grateful to have bloomed at all. And I'm glad we're getting the last laugh.

Here I am in 1964, Lake Delta, NY (it's probably June based on the amount of snow ) These were wonderful years for me (and Star Trek was juuuust around the corner ) - we were very much "outdoor" kids, year round, who had many, many friends. I feel nothing but happiness with this picture.

Doesn't this photo just scream: Take me to Everest and I will climb it!! Or at least... "Whew, I'm not too late for the bus!"

I feel a bit sad thinking about how much innocence and hope I had. I think I'm a bit jaded now although I still believe magic happens. I do have a lot to be grateful for though- I guess photo-me is happy that I'm still alive and well and have had lots of lovely experiences in the meantime.
