I have been playing a game called "Virtual Familes' that I downloaded from BigFish Games. I want the current father, named Tito, to hurry up and die so that I can start a new generation but the silly old bugger just keeps on living. I have been hitting him with the punishment hand in the hope that it would have a bad affect on his health but, even though he is depressed, he is still healthy. I wish he would get sick so I could avoid treating him. I have considered not buying any more food so that I could starve him to death but he still has two kiddies at home and I don't want to kill them.

In this thread I would like people to admit to any acts of cruelty that they have performed on virtual people/virtual pets or sims etc. Do you thoroughly enjoy these acts?

I haven't play The Sims much so I haven't ever done that but maybe my son has.

At one stage I had a freeware/sheareware (?) virtual dog game in which you could punish the dog by giving it electric shocks. I had one dog that I punished so much that it was a total nervous wreck and it did nothing else but sit in a corner and shake with fear.

That was the old way of killing off your sims. Nowadays, when you play The Sims 2, just use a cheat code (boolprop is very powerful) and instantly get the "Tombstone of Life and Death" or the "Death Generator." You could age your sims or have them killed instantly by fire, hail, etc., then the Grim Reaper comes a knockin'.

It shouldn't surprise any of you when I say that I would never do this. I get sad when I see virtual characters die, though not so much as when it's real people of course.

To put it another way: I cried during the first Pokémon movie...

Believe me, at some point I became "attached" (well not really attached, just got accustomed to playing them) to some of the sims I created, especially the patriarchs and matriarchs of a certain community. When Apartment Life expansion came out, I moved the elderly sims to the apartments while the second- and third-generation sims inherited the well-furnished and elegant estates in the community.

P.S.

I hardly ever need to eliminate some of my sims. When I do, I go for a random sim or an NPC (non-playable character, created by the Tombstone of L&D). I have a carnivorous cow-plant that has to be fed once every 24 hours, so I just feed him the expendable sim.

I was always a fan of coaxing them into a swimming pool only to have the ladder mysterious disappear...

When I played the Sims, if there was a character I didn't like, I'd put him in the pool and take the ladder away. The poor stupid bugger would freak out and drown.

When I got Sims 2, I was intrigued by the "mental illness" function, so I kept one character in the kitchen and just kept feeding her--wouldn't let her socialize, sleep or go to the bathroom. I wanted to see what would happen. She had a psychotic break and started talking to an imaginary giant rabbit---ala "Harvey." I was kinda disappointed, because she didn't really gain weight or get sick, which, I am ashamed to admit, I really wanted to see. But she wouldn't freakin' die, so I just got annoyed and erased the game.

I wish I could remember the name of the game so that I could see if it is still available for download. I must have originally downloaded it in about 2003.

I just talked to my son about the game and he told, and I then recalled, that you could drop a one-tonne weight on it as well. He thinks you might also be able to shoot it (nut I don't remember doing that).
