We know the death of Kirk's father, that is, the destruction of the Kelvin, seems to have altered a lot of things in how the next 2+ decades went. (Things far beyond just Jim Kirk's personal life.)
Was McCoy's life also altered?
Should he have been joining Starfleet on the same day Kirk did?
How would the original timeline have compared with that?
You guys who know stuff like 'what episode had a scene with coffee stains on someone's shirt?', help me out here.
The day Kirk joined the JJ-starfleet... Where should he have been and what should he have been doing? Is this the point where he was "the stack of books with legs", teaching at the Academy as a Lieutenant?
Does McCoy join Starfleet at the same time in both continuities, but Kirk just happens to be there on that day in the new timeline?
Would he have been at Starfleet already when McCoy arrived, and got to know him that way?
Help me sort out the old and the new here.
Thanks.
