About public opinion polls regarding health care and such -

The poll that matters most is the one we had last November.

This is a democracy, and We the People elected our current President and Senators and Congresspeople. They ran on various policy proposals, and they were given ample opportunity to describe the sorts of directions they wanted to take the country.

The polls are closed, and now it's time to implement the policies of the current Administration - just as the previous Administration had the chance to implement its policies.

We've seen that the previous policies were a total failure - foreign, economic, social, educational, individual rights, and yes, health care, to name a few areas. America wants a new direction - and the only poll that mattered, the one taken last Nov 4, decisively indicates that.

We'll have another partial poll in November of 2010, and another more authoritative one in November of 2012. Until then, let's try the new direction America chose last fall.

No. The various proposals that have been made by Obama and other Democrats would all improve health care over what we have now.

By the way, there is no "obama plan".

You didn't derail anything, and there's no need to shut up. I was just making a joke. I think you'll find if you read my earlier posts that I agree with you completely.

I know. But I did feel like I merely vented without adding anything to the topic at hand. Having turned to the BBS after I had read about Nazi portrayals in the media all day probably didn't help. Strangely enough, thinking about Nazis all day didn't give me a fluffy feeling inside.

Why does the Government (US) limit the number of available slots in medical schools every year?

I don't believe so. Nursing and doctors slots (AFIK) are all capped by government regulations.

As an aside, whatever happened to President Obama's promise that ALL legislation would be up for public viewing before being voted upon?

Why is it that the Dems are trying to get Health Care reform voted on *without* a bill having been written?

Jobs are being lost by the tens of thousands every week. The bigger priority should be getting employment back up, not Government-run health care.
