There's an amazing lack of professionalism among the crew.
Yeah, they started out good but after just four days in space everyone is going nuts?

How did a potential rapist like Steven make the cut?
Potential rapist?! Were'd you get that from?
It always begins with "minor" boundary violations, like opening the door without permission. How many times did the woman (Paula?) tell him to get the hell out of her quarters?

On the off chance that this does get another season, when would it be likely to air? January, I'm assuming?

I liked this episode. This could turn out to be an interesting show.

They would need to film the 13 episodes, so I say maybe May 2010.

According to wiki, 13 eps were filmed and in the can before the show went to air.

Yes.... What is on now is season 1... what we are talking about is possible season 2 dates if one is greenlite....

Well the geek does have a creepy vibe about him. Don't know if he goes that far out and rape her.

But going to back to the show. I want it to succeed. As a fan of Sci Fi I want Sci Fi to do better so that success begets success. Yes DG may not be amazing but I ain't going to rain on its parade b/c it is Sci Fi Lite. I'm a huge comic book fan but that doesn't mean I hate on Archie and Jughead. In fact I want Archie to do well b/c the chance of somebody crossing over and reading Batman or Spiderman will be greater if they have some exposure to comics.

This one was slower than the two-hour pilot. Have to agree too that the flashback format doesn't work as well here as it does on Lost. Said that last week, but felt like saying it again.

ETA: Oh yeah, forgot to add that I really liked the two references to Vancouver: Paula's fifth-graders in Burnaby, and the buses that are apparently still running forty years from now.
Sounded like they added a sound effect to the bus to make the engine sound more futuristic.

Think about it. When was the last major network space series that lasted more than half-a-season?

Pretty sure it was ... BUCK ROGERS.

That's further back than most posters here probably go in terms of lifespan.
Space Above and Beyond...Fox had the NFL around the time, and was considered a major by then.

I'll give it another go though. I think the set up is interesting enough, though I wasn't quite sure where they were going or what exactly their mission was. Even though I missed the first show I wished they had repeated their mission through exposition or something to get latecomers like me up to speed.

The mission seems to be to explore the solar system with the first stop being Venus for some reason (I guess because that's what Beta wants).

Could also have something to with launch windows, planetary alignment and use of planetary gravity to slingshot to the next destination.

I seem to have recall that some of the NASA probes have gone sunwards prior to missions into the outer reaches of the solar system - anyone confirm?

Okay, but that is still just one season. I shoulda remembered Fox, since they've had about 15 SF series since the early 90s, and cancelled them all pretty fast except X-FILES.

The German chick is hot. I love her accent. The blonde isn't bad, either. And there's space stuff. About the only reasons I tune in at the moment. The pilot guy from Office Space is cool, too.

Just noticed that there's 14 people in that cast photo. Yikes, that's a lot of people!

Uh, once, as far as I know (and only because she was puking her guts out). And after he got a new asshole ripped over it he stayed out.

At the end of the episodes Nadia tries to pin the blame on Steve (she never seems to miss an opportunity to shit on him), but really both he and Paula were equal assholes.

I don't know how you can have a six year mission and not pick people who get along better together.

Yeah, I really don't know what they're planning for Ajay. He's off the mission at the end of episode two and he's not even part of the ground team at the end of episode three. I thought for sure he was just going to be an expendable character but he's part of the main cast.

The shuttle is going to screw up and Ajay is the only person to fix it from down there. Thus Justifying Beta's reason for pulling him off.

I actually thought about that after posting. It makes sense.

Just no one tell Donner he's having a case of the Mondays.

And I think Gary Cole would have been a better choice to play Mike Goss. "Um... yeah... okay... Maddox, I am going to need you to come in this weekend. Yeah, um... we had to let a couple of people go from the mission, so I am going to need you to come in to play a little "catch up". Okay? Oh, and... it will be for six years. Thanks."

I had heard of this, but only got around to watching it this weekend. I'm not sure what to think about it though. On one hand I want to like it because it's sci-fi, but it also felt like absolutely nothing happened.
Was this episode bad in comparison to the first two, or is this par for the course?

Ron Livingston is better than this.

IMO, this one wasn't as good as the first two. I'm still kinda on the fence about the show; I want to like it but some things make it hard. So far it's been kind of slow and the flashbacks definitely throw off the pacing, but I'm intrigued enough to keep watching...for now.
