Its like crack.

It IS like crack!

I'd never heard of him until I moved to Boston for Law School. I came home from class one day early in my first year to find my roommate in front of the TV with a very guilty look. I thought maybe she was watching a Soap or maybe even pr0n. But no, when I came into the room I was introduced to the guilty addictive pleasure that was Bob Ross' "The Joy of Painting" show.

It became a ritual for us when we'd come home from class. There was something about his trance-inducing voice, and watching those mountains and "happy little trees" spring out of nowhere on the canvas that was just so oooooo ... relaxing.

I miss the happy little trees. :shifty:

THAT was just so wrong in so many ways. :alienblush:

I loved it.

Well Bob never acted like crack for me...that's for sure. He was big on public TV but his effect on me was more of a depressant, a valium if you will.

LOL! True, true: the effect was definitely more like valium. But he was as addictive as crack. ;)

Bob Ross was a natural relaxant. He was ten times more powerful than world music, and certainly better for you than doctor prescribed medications. The only negative side effect is that after 72 hours of solid exposure, you turn into Doug Henning.

Either that or find you have an uncontrollable urge to get a perm. :p

On a related note, didn't his son carry on the show for awhile?

*EDIT* heh, while looking into the son thing I came across a reference to an oft-repeated Bob Ross'ism that I'd forgotten about: "We don't make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents." I may need to change my "signature". ;)

As a kid I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons and seeing like the last couple minutes of his show sometimes.

Man. That guy was as baked as a potato in a steak house.

Well I'll have to take it from you because I've never done a drug a day in my life. I'm innocent I tell you INNOCENT.

Strictly based on empirical observations of others, I assure you. :shifty:

Okay my brother has now been watching for half an hour straight. If he's still sitting there in the morning I'm going for an intervention!
