No disrespect to whomever created the original motto of this forum, but I found (per this thread) that the Stargate desciprtion was, well, too descriptive! The other forums have witty, tongue-in-cheek descriptions.

So Bonzy said I could set up a poll!

I voted for the Canadian woods, but my runner up would be "Can't call this the Enterprise forum" and "Mocking our enemies".

"It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that. No one ever stops by just to say 'hi' anymore."

That was my choice. :techman:

Sir, we can't call it the Enterprise forum

Perfect example of how Stargate was never to proud to acknowledge where it's coming from and that it didn't take itself all that seriously.

Ha. The Canadian woods line is mine, and winning...! But I preferred the Enterprise entry and voted for that. :)

I went with 'Mocking our enemies since 1996'. Mostly because of lines like this:

O'Neill: Sorry I'm late but I was having a wonderful lunch.
Baal: Impudence!
O'Neill: No, tuna.

The Enterprise line is something that you'll laugh at once, and then get bored of. It's confusing, even for people who enjoy the show, is an extremely vague reference, and just copies a line from the show word for word. It also makes no sense as a forum description.

The Canadian woods one is actually clever, totally accurate and is very amusing. It is also a good description for a message board.

"Sir, we can't call it the Enterprise forum."

It's one of those brilliant lines that sticks out even after it isn't technically "funny" anymore (kinda like how all the Doctor Who fans are now constantly quoting the "Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey" line). Plus, it seems especially perfect since it's an addendum to a Star Trek BBS. If this were more of a general sci-fi BBS or one devoted exclusively to Stargate, I'd advise going with something different.

My 2nd favorite is the "Canadian woods" line, although I'm not sure I like the exact wording. I'd probably replace "Canadian woods" with "exotic pine forests of Canada." But that's just me.

Oh course the lame Enterprise line is winning... A 10 second line on one Stargate episodes 5-6 years ago....

The forest one is true for the last 15 years of ALL Stargate, not just one bad line from one bad episode.

god you even get touchy over a forum description

I think the Enterprise thing works because it's fun. It's an affectionate line in the show to Star Trek, and paraphrased for a forum description. It's a little nod to the Star Trek forums above it too.

My suggestion of the woods was tongue-in-cheek, but is somewhat derogatory one could say.

So glad Enterprise is winning.
